Yeah it's funny how guys are....kinda like hand poured worms are so much better than the ones mass produced...come on.....I've caught plenty of bass on zooms etc....There is also a guy we fish against in local tournaments that only fishes the Ned rig. Well, have yet to see him place in the money yet. Gotta be able to find them and see what they want by matching what they normally feed on. Plus, the ancient jig & trailer still puts big girls in the boat for me.

Day in day out nothing fools more 5lb and up bass than a jig...I'm convinced of that.

I think the chatterbait/vibrating jig was a landmark invention in bass fishing, and I think it will be a staple like the spinnerbait even 20 years from now.

I agree there are “fad” lures out there, but I will say the Maxscent flatworm and flatnose minnow have been my only drop shot baits for the last two years. They are absolutely like crack for big smallmouth up here. I’ve caught so many big fish and numbers on them, it’s hard to try anything else, at least when a drop shot is the rig to use.

Do you think the Max Scent really is a large difference compared to the regular Powerbait? I mean the price is almost 2x. I want to get a few of the Chunk for jig trailers in teh Max Scent but the $7 price is holding me back

I’m not sure if it’s a super huge difference over regular powerbait ( which I use a ton of and have for years), but it sure does work for me. I’m a big fan of the creature hawg and the General, they’ve been excellent for pitching for largemouth and the General both Texas rigged for largemouth as well as wacky and drop shot for smallies.

When I started fishing again after being away for a while I started by throwing a Rapala floater into the river. I got the idea that I might be missing some fish that didn't want to come to the surface so I threw a count down. Then I discovered the suspending jerk baits. They all caught fish.

I grew up throwing grubs or other plastics on small lead head jigs and they still work. The "NED" is a nice twist especially with "elazteck". I've been using some kind of jig ever since I can remember and that's getting to be a long time now. LOL

The way I look at it is innovation is good but I can't afford to run out and buy a bunch of every new thing that comes out.

How about boat fads? Is there anybody who doesn't fish out of a "bass boat" except me? LOL

My parents don’t fish out of a bass boat...but they mostly walleye fish on large lakes.

i think there is a substantial amount of anglers just on this website regularly who fish from the bank or out of a kayak/canoe too.

(raises his hand) Sold my old powerboat (a runabout) years ago. My fishing vehicle is a self-modified canoe.

Yep...bank guy here. Had a boat for a few years but didn't use it much since I fish small bodies of water. Considering a kayak to get off the bank in summer..but for now bank bound. Have been for years.

No bass boat here. A 2006 narrow beamed alumacraft lunker  v16 single console that  I made a custom deck for between the front area and the live well to give me room to move around. Gets the job done for me. Eventually want a wider beamed 17 or 18 foot deep v for when we make the permanent move to the lake.

I do fish a local river a lot from the bank on the way to work and we just got kayaks last year so I always have a rod with. The main goal of that is to get out with the wife on the river so she only tolerates a few casts;)

Started fishing again about two months ago...after a 15+ year layoff. Still catching bass on my 20 year old power worms, power grubs, Slug-Go's, spinner bait, buzz baits, etc.

Fished the bank until I got a belly-boat...then fished out of a buddy's canoe. Kayaks were not in fashion back in the early 1990's.

Got this 1960 Rich Line in 2000.  It's just what I need.

ok I'm not the only one without a bass boat.

You can have the most expensive bass boat with the best electronics and it will not mean much if you do not learn how to read the water. Experience and knowledge is far more valuable than what boat or tackle you own.

After seeing all those YouTube videos of vicious explosions on the Whopper Plopper, I ordered the 130 in bone color. I caught a couple on it in prespawn-spawn last season, then nothing. But they were big fish. After watching videos of people saying the 90 gets more bites I bought one of those and started trying it. Nothing. Then I went to stay at my sister's neighborhood at the beach. It has freshwater canals and a pond. Fish there see a lot of lures, so I threw the whole tackle box at them. The 90 worked there. This morning I caught 8 on the size 90 in my friends' backyard 2 acre pond. Biggest was 3.5 lb. I also tried a Pop R, Chug Bug and Spook without a single bite.

It does seem to me, watching videos, that the WP works better for smallmouth and in streams and rivers.

Clear water smallmouth like you mentioned come unglued for that thing, though I've caught a lot of LMB too in the same scenario.  Also pike/musky. I did notice it working a bit less well this year, which I attribute to the arrival of the choppo, which is widely available here in Canada whereas the WP is not.

Just to prove my point I listed my stand up Viper jigs for sale for the 1st time ever.

Not a single inquiry from BR members.

I listed my Vinyl jig skirts, no inquiries from BR members.

Friday a freind of mine came over to visit and noticed all the stuff in my garage andxI mentioned I selling everything. He mentioned this to a local bass angler and Saturday morning I get a call if I am selling my jigs, he came right over a hour later.

Joe bought all my jigs and vinyl skirts, saying he couldn't believe anyone didn't jump on this immediately. I said it isn't new but nothing on the market works better.

You all missed out on a one time offer.

Do you mean more people are throwing the Choppo this year? Do you think the Choppo works better or just that fish are seeing it more?

Just that fish are seeing it more as people have access. Here in Canada the WP was/is hard to come by and crazy expensive >$20, but the choppo is everywhere and 9.99.

Flea Market forum for 2 weeks. Photos didn't get listed so it wasn't that surprising few were interested, but did offer to send anyone who was interested photos.

They are stand up jig I designed in '71 to go through rocks better then ball or foot heads and caught hundreds of DD bass using it including my 5 listed in my avatar.

Very cool, they sound interesting. However I rarely fish around rocks. All of the ponds around me do not have them on the bottoms. Would you mind sending me some pics, I am interested to see what they look like. Thanks

Jigs are good lures to fish in rocky rivers and I have a bunch of them since they are very easy to find online.

I splurged for the WP 110 last year and it produced for me. Was able to grab one from bass pro in Vaughan  but otherwise you're right, good luck finding one up here. Got a choppo 90 for Christmas and not sure if its the size difference or the lure quality but the WP is definitely more consistent in its action.

Remember when Teckel Sprinkers were selling for $80 each?? I stumbled into 3 of them for retail and kept them because I didn't want to miss out. Man I'd love to hit rewind and do that over again, I'd love to have the new rod or reel I could have bought for the money I'd made selling those 3 stupid frogs. They work, but what was I thinking?? ?‍♂️

You paid $80 a piece for those?  And you bought three?
