Thoughts on these two reels, is the Curado worth the extra $50? I am a big fan of the SLX line up (I have 6 or 7), just wondering what you get stepping up to the Curado line up. Anyone have both, even in the 150 size?

I have both. I prefer the feel of the Curado to the SLX. I think it is smoother as well. Casting wise I would say they are about the same.

Worth an extra $50? That is up to you to decide how much $50 is worth to you. Pocket change? Yes it is worth it. Could be used for bills? No, pay the bills :)

Are you talking about the not yet released Curado K 70 or the older silver one?

I like the slx series better than the curado 70. Like the k better than both but of those 2 id go with the slx. Ive had a cple of the 70's and both got geary way too soon and seemed a little more temperamental to get dialed in to me. Obviously opinions are gonna be different so if you can maybe handle both and see what you think.  Likely you will be pleased with either

Worth it?, is so subjective. The curado is a little more refined, not in a smooth way but solid feel. SLX MGL is not a bad reel either, a little bit cheaper feel, a little more internal plastic part, no X-Ship bearing that you have to worry about geary feel. I got more control on SLX MGL but more distance on curado 70. I remembered curado 70 priced at about 150-160 before it’s been discontinued. If you can get used for around 120-130, I’d say you should try one. I sold one of mine pretty new for 120.

The new Curado 70 MGL is priced higher at 229, this is gonna be tough decision. You get 8+1 bearing (4 in knobs, I assumed) but micro module gear and xtra bearing X-ship. I’m not even sure now if I’m gonna get one. I might get one eventually to show support as shimano fanboys lol.

I am waiting to see the review of the new 70 K MGL. They are both appealing, but I think I will be going with the K if it's as good as the 200 K.

Both of 70 reels became geary after about 10 fishing sessions. I’m waiting for curado 70 K too

Is this due to these reels just not standing up to wear or is this normal with the 70 size reels due to small components? On a side note I was born in Rockford not far from Chicago, most of my family is still up there. I sure do miss the pizza, pizza sucks down here in VA.

As far as the silver 70 curado goes, I think it was probably something in the design that caused the gear issue. Although it seems some people dont have the issue, or don’t notice it.

As far as the pizza goes, I grew up in NY, so I miss my NY pizza, and don’t mess with Chicago deep dish style pizza.

Maybe I wait for the new Curado K I am not in a huge rush, my SLX DC is doing OK I just don't think I need a 150 size reel with smaller size baits. Not huge fan of deep dish either, just a quality pan pizza in general is almost impossible to come by. They think pizza hut and papa johns is good pizza down here....
