James Hall Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Anybody on here musicians? I tend to mess with the mandolin and guitar sometimes. Lately I've been learning some mandolin. What do ya'll think of this? 1 Quote
Guitarfish Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 I love mandolin in a band setting. Was always going to get one but didn't. I'm a guitar hack finger picker. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted August 30, 2020 Super User Posted August 30, 2020 Nice. My dad played the mandolin. Me, I play a mean radio. 1 Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted September 1, 2020 Super User Posted September 1, 2020 Very few musicians who play stringed instruments are fishermen. They can't find rods with frets on them. ??? jj Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted September 5, 2020 Super User Posted September 5, 2020 That sounds like “ My last day on earth” by Bill Monroe. I play a banjo. My oldest son plays guitar, banjo, mandolin , bass , and ukulele. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted September 5, 2020 Super User Posted September 5, 2020 When I was younger I played trumpet and guitar. Now-days I occasionally haul out my Zither just to keep in practice 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 6, 2020 Global Moderator Posted September 6, 2020 My dad is a pretty decent guitar player and songwriter. He had a song on the radio for a minute locally. My grandpa was excellent at playing the harmonica. I miss listening to him play around the campfire on camping trips. 1 Quote
Guitarfish Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 I miss my grandad just for the late night talks about life. He always seemed to see far off things when I talked to him. Gave me my first glass of sipping whiskey when I was 17. He was gone soon after. He did a mean soulfull whistle tune. Quote
Captain Phil Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 When I was born, my Mom and I lived with my grandparents. My Grandfather was my hero. He was everything I thought a man should be. He taught me a man could love God without becoming a preacher. He taught me the reward of hard work. He was strong when he had to be and kind when it helped someone. After he retired, we would sit on the bank and fish together for hours. I missed him terribly when he passed away. His spirit is part of me and I still think about him all the time. 3 Quote

Was also listening to Sierra Hull yesterday. Bill’s probably the GOAT, but I’m not near as fond of his singing. So Im more of a Stanley brothers fan because of their mountain style of singing/picking. 1 hour ago, Captain Phil said: When I was born, my Mom and I lived with my grandparents. cheezyridr Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 i went to youtube and gave you a like. nice job! i badly play guitar. there is actual rock and roll in my bones. i am a rocker, and i just can't help it. i have a couple of songs on youtube, just for fun. my old band has a few studio rehearsals on the rythym guy's page. no one looks at them but us until recently. an obscure station up in canada stumbled across his page and played a couple of our songs on the air. we picked up a few hundred views over nite and that was kinda fun. here is one of our songs, it's meat & potatos rock, but that's how i like it.
