Fishin' Fool Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 I've really gotten away from throwing a spinnerbait the last several years but i know its good for a kicker fish on occasion. Is Nichols still the preferred spinnerbait? If not, what are you guys using? I'm usually throwing 3/8 or 1/2 ounce. Quote
Hook2Jaw Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 ⅜ and ½ ounce Booyah Blades for me. Single Colorado and double willow, they're becoming a confidence bait after years of thinking they didn't catch fish. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted August 30, 2020 Super User Posted August 30, 2020 Late summer and early fall (like right now) I throw a spinnerbait a ton. Haven't tried them all and I'm betting several are productive But I like a few different ones and most of that is driven by how I plan on fishing it. For high and fast - the SK Burner gets the nod. For a big profile with a lot of flash, a Biovex Stangun DW (top pic)is my choice (got my PB smallie on one) For most everything in between the Megastrike Strikeback bait produces well. (bottom pic) Finally, at the high end of the price range, the Megabass V9 is rapidly earning a permanent spot in my rotation. A-Jay 1 Quote

Nice thin profile and doesn't interfere with the baits ability to track straight. A-Jay and I'm going to apologize in advance but - this was fun . . . 2 Quote
Tizi Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 I mostly use War Eagle spinnerbaits in 3/8 to 1/2 oz, double bladed (willow or Colorado) . If I want a single blade. I cut off the first one, hard to find single blades. I add trailers at times like Zoom curly tail grub. 2 Quote

Ben77 Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 Revenge bluegill in a double colorado gold blade in 3\8 oz. Heard good things about it. This will be my next spinnerbait for sure. 1 Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted August 30, 2020 Super User Posted August 30, 2020 There are lures where I'm finicky, and lures where I'm not. When it comes to spinnerbaits, I'm not. I use cheap spinnerbaits that look good to me and catch fish. It boils down to knowing when to use it and where to put it. jj 1 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted August 30, 2020 Super User Posted August 30, 2020 I throw 1/2 oz spinner baits, either home made or War Eagle. 3 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted August 30, 2020 Super User Posted August 30, 2020 Ive been using a home poured 1/2 ounce for castability and smaller blades from a 1/4 or 3/8 ounce Terminator . Its a good combo , catching lots of 1 to 3 lbers with it . 1 Quote

Dens228 Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 I have mostly War Eagle. I tend to do well with them in spurts. In the last month or so the only day I was successful with them was a short period about 30 minutes before it rained, during the 30 minute rain, and about 15 minutes after the rain. Other days, cloudy, windy, neither, I haven't had much luck lately. 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 30, 2020 Super User Posted August 30, 2020 Trailer or not? Stinger hook or not? 1 Quote

Super User gim Posted August 30, 2020 Super User Posted August 30, 2020 I still have 8 original titanium terminator series spinnerbaits left, 3 in the original packaging. They are the most durable ones I have ever used and capable of still operating properly even after vicious strikes from a Pikenado barrage. The steel framed ones bend and kink and then don’t run true. Unfortunately, termaintor isn’t making them anymore. They stopped when rapala bought them a few years ago. ? 1 Quote

Allen Mostly Lumiflex, some silcone material, and crystal flash mixed in. Top light colors working on one lake I fish. Chart. and black has been by far the best on the other lake. Quote
