Anyone else have a cat that enjoys your fishing gear more than the bass do? I have gone so far to put a 6’6 Berkley lightning rod with an Abu Garcia black max reel with a chartreuse/black crankbait with no hooks and I practice pitching in my house with it it and my little guy just goes nuts. It’s quite hilarious. He hates when I respool my reels, he attacks the rods tips viciously. It’s hilarious.

Anyone else safely play with their pets who seem to adore our rods and reels the same way? (While also making sure no damage is done to animal or gear)

I frequently take a rod outside to practice. Our two cats get all worked up when they see the practice plug dangling so we have to play a little jump and grab. I just have to be careful that I don't let them get wrapped around a foot.

Edit: And by the way I just noticed this was your first post. Welcome. We'll look forward to hearing what you do when you're using lures with hooks.

I do it, but with our 2 Golden Retrievers. 70lb dog is a heck of a fight on a bass rod.

Haha I know how you feel. I have an Anatolian Sheppard and he knows when not to mess with me when I’m im testing gear. Just time and practice. Had a random night with a kitten and thought this post was hilarious.

You don’t even want to try stripping line or respooling reels around our cats lol.
