Hey guys, looking to respool my baitcaster with some braid, i been using daiwa j-braid 30 LB in dark green, i noticed the line digs into it self not sure why.

I mainly fish in rivers, the water is not clear.

What will be a good priced braid to buy? i see that '' spider-wire stealth smooth 40LB is on sale for 10$ at my store '', also what's your thought on Invisi-braid by spiderwire? Please give me some recommendations before i go buy a line.

I use j braid too.   I use 50 lb and 65 lb.    I rarely have dig ins, only after hard hook set but it comes out easily.  You can try going up in size to 40 or 50. That normally helps most people.  Or try a coated braid like super slick 8 or suffix 832.

Stay away from spider wire.  There's a reason its 10 bucks.

i use 30lb powerpro on a baitcaster with no issues.  The one thing where I've noticed that it slowly starts to dig into the spool when its not wound on tight (usually when I'm fishing a senko or other plastics).  Every now and then I'll throw a long cast and wind back in putting tension on the braid to pack it back on the spool tight.

J-Braid is supposedly good - I've used down to 20# Power Pro on a BC without issue.

Ditto - I tried Spiderwire years ago and even if it's improved 200% by now...I still wouldn't use it.

I always 'repack' my braid - sometimes after every trip. Over the course of time it's gonna get loose on the spool, and that's when dig-in starts to happen.

When they say tight l, they mean tight.  When I am reeling on braid I lock down the drag, lock the spool in my vise so it will barely spin and then reel it with addd pressure from my finger tips.  You do that all the way and you won't have dig in.... I use 15 and 20 # braid on my baitcasters without any issues.

This.  And I'll respool my braid once every few months because it tends to loosen up over time.  Usually what I'll do is spool it onto a saltwater trolling reel first.  Then, I'll spool it off that onto my bass reel, and use the drag on the trolling reel to give it lots of tension.  I put enough tension on it to put a good bend in my rod.  I don't know how much, but it's probably a couple of pounds of pressure.  Do it right, and any brand of braid won't give you problems of digging in.  At least not for a while.

By the way, I'm not convinced that Spiderwire is as bad as many people say.  If you go with Spiderwire, get the 8 strand variety, it's pretty decent stuff.  Avoid the EZ Braid.  It's junk.  And while even the 8 strand stuff doesn't cast as well as something like Suffix 832 right out of the box, after a month of use, they're pretty much the same to me.  Close enough that I can't remember which brand is on which reel anymore.  Unlike fluoro, where the difference between the cheap stuff and the good stuff is pretty significant.
