Super User CWB Posted April 21, 2009 Super User Posted April 21, 2009 I have a painted Aluminum G3 bassboat that I absolutely love. However I do have one problem that is not related to the actual boat. I moor the boat in the water all during the fishing season and it accumulates quite a nasty scumline and crud from the waterline down. Waxing the hull prior to launching helped the first couple years but now only elbow grease or dragging it to a pressure car wash will remove the crud. Anyone else have this problem and any possible solutions/remedies? Spray on, hose off cleaner? Have tried a few but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Quote
zrt594 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Try using some of the aluminum wheel cleaner for the wheels on your car. Not sure what it will do to the paint so you may want to try it in a small area before you do the boat, but I use it on my fiberglass jet boat and it works great and doesn't seem to hurt the gel coat. I use the Eagle I in the black bottle and takes the scum right off. Spray on and rinse off with very little elbow grease except for the really gunked up spots. Otherwise I have found that extra strength Fantastic works but it takes some rubbing. Quote
Super User CWB Posted April 23, 2009 Author Super User Posted April 23, 2009 Thanks- I'll give it a shot. I used to have a Bass Tracker unpainted and man the gunk grew on the hull pretty quickly. At least with the painted hull, I got 3 years without growth but have gotten lazy the last few. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted April 23, 2009 Super User Posted April 23, 2009 I'd recommend going to a reputable marina and asking them what product they like to use. My marina recommended a product called "Slimy Grimy" believe it or not. And the darn stuff works! Takes a bit of elbow grease, but not too bad. Quote
HPBB Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 this is what I use on my v hull, and what we use on our pontoons, that sit all year in the water. I use Simple Green and a light scrub brush. spay it on and scrub the line off. make sure you rinse well. it will also take all the wax off, so you will need to wax again. Quote
George Welcome Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Easy and inexpensive: Go to your local supermarket and pick up a couple bottles of Sno-Bol. Apply with a soft brush - let stand for a couple of minutes and rinse. It will clean it up like it is new. Quote

SMALMTH Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I have a G3 also, but it's the dull green/camo color. I purchase "Kaboom" from the dollar store and it works great. The only problem might be if you have the gloss paint, which might dull. Quote
