I was talking to a few guys at work, evidently the equipment companies are overwhelmed by the demand, some companies are in a predicament where the can't hire new employees (COVID 19) to keep up with the demand, so they loose the business. It's all old news, it has to be ,on all accounts, the best fiscal year in the history of fishing. How is the fishing industry not trying to maximize they market strategy and capitalize on today's trend? It just seems there's more these companies can do. We've been out of SLX, Curados, Metanium, and Chronarchs going on 6 weeks. It's amazing to me watching the trends in the store. Most everyone is buying Shimano reels and we can't keep Hollow body frogs on the shelves at Academy. I was so excited about perhaps getting a Curado K, but they are back ordered, some say until December.

I'm reel bummed out.

I was ahead of the game on this Covid mess. I'd rather not go out to the stores anyways, because I really hate driving there and not finding what I went for. So I order everything online so I know I'll get what I need.

Haven't had any issue with getting what I want/need despite all this mess. I haven't tried to order any Maxscent flatnose worms either though although I do have a pack somewhere I think.

I guess I've reached the stage in my fishing "career" that I don't buy a ton of stuff to TRY but have a ton of stuff I USE.  On all the stuff I need continuously I have enough to last me for years.  A lot of the plastics I use and ALL of the jigs I used are custom made by small producers and they are jammin this year.  The couple of things I have needed I found easily on line with no problems and were the type of thing a place like BPS doesn't carry anyway

Thinking out loud. Pointing out the obvious. I hate shopping online. Especially having to wait 3 weeks to get it. There should be a better way to order and get it shipped. I just miss the convenience of a department store. We give way too much power to the internet.

But I digress, I wonder how much the fishing industry has collectively made. Again thinking out loud.

I buy the majority of my stuff on eBay/ Facebook groups and the shipping wait is usually a week at the most. Lots of mom and pops on there, and absolutely none in my area, so it's nice to help small businesses and never have to leave the house. Their eagerness to get good reviews is refreshing too. Top notch customer service.

As for the whole industry, I think it may be pretty similar to most years, just less for the clearance rack at year's end.

I was pretty set when all of this COIVD mess hit the country.  I made most of my purchases black Friday to end of December 2019.  I order most of the things for fishing online, the stores in my area don't cater to bass fishing (although there are a few mom/pop shops that do).  Would love to get an Academy in the area.

I think about 10$ of my gear/lures were purchased in store...the rest was online. Of course I got 99% of this years shopping done during Black Friday through early February, just a few things since then including replacing one crankbait a Northern stole from me early in the season.

The online market has hit the brick & mortar stores hard, but I've been a 'computer geek' for decades, so it really doesn't bother me too much.

I order online and usually get stuff in a few days. I order a lot of stuff from Japan and it often gets here quicker than that.
