It is my personal opinion that most comedy today is garbage and just plain not funny. Politically correct, too political, raunchy for the sake of being raunchy - I just don't find that funny.

But one guy I find really funny is Jeff Dunham. Puppet humor isn't for everyone, but I think this guy is hilarious.

I'm a Jeff fan too - so is the wife.  ("I KEEL YOU!")

Bill Engvall is another favorite of ours.

I've got a little different viewpoint on this, maybe because I'm older.

I like Jeff Dunham. But the people who were side-splitting funny in the days when you couldn't even say "W.C." on television (remember Jack Paar?) were the true masters of the game. And the one that I loved the best was Red Skelton. Yes, I liked everyone associated with the Carol Burnett show, but Skelton was my hero. Still is.     jj

For most of my hotel career I was a GM with Marriott but one year my company picked up a small portfolio of Holiday Inn Convention centers and because I was involved as a transition GM with some of those properties one of the "perks" I got was going to the annual Holiday Inn GM's conference.

I had been to a ton of Marriott GM conferences and they were all high energy, rah rah events that were a ton of fun so I expected some of the same at the HI conference. I was wrong.

On the first night of the event Don Rickles was the host and at one point he went into his comedy routine. There happened to be a black GM sitting in the front row and well, you can imagine the rest. Rickles was Rickles. This was WAY before the PC craze today but even then it was just cringe worthy.

I agree Rickles was a funny guy, but there's a time and place for everything. That was neither the time nor the place.

George Carlin was another good one back in the day. He'd rip on everyone.

Don Rickles, Buddy Hacket, Dean Martin and Foster Brooks, Carol Burnett, Harvey Korman and Tim Conway, Robin Williams and Jonathan Winters, Bob Hope, Milton Berle, The 3 Stooges and the list goes on.

The "F" word has it's place in comedy, but not all comedy. I heard a guy on Comedy Central Radio (Serius) today, his name escapes me. Did a half hour spot and told one continuous story about sex and every minute or two there was another nuance which connected every story to the last.

Josh Blue is a pretty funny guy.

It's 100% your fault I'm posting this.

This is my neighbor. He has cerebral palsy as does Josh Blue.

When you talk about the last generation of comedians, you can’t leave out Rodney Dangerfield. Present day favorites of mine are Jerry Sienfeld, Lewis Black and before he got blacklisted, Louis C. K.

The worst boss I’ve ever had, he seriously drank himself stupid! You could not understand a d**n thing he said especially when he got ***. The story goes he got pulled over one day and became of his slurred speech was asked to perform a sobriety test. Well he failed but passed the breathilizel. Hilarious, because he drank himself stupid and you couldn’t upstanding a d**n thing he was saying, but he’s the only person I wouldn’t slow down for if I ever saw him crossing the road!

You know, I've lived here 20 years. Darrell has been in the neighborhood slightly longer. I've watched his children grow up.

While he gets on my nerves sometimes, Darrell is out hustling for his family. He's got cerebral palsy and works his ass off at a hardware store and driving rideshare.

Mitch Hedberg was one of my all time favorites... just something about his delivery and random observations that always made me laugh. Sad when drugs get the best of people and they leave way too soon.

To each their own....never been one into taking the time for standup....guess I'm a Debbie downer.  Don't care for others belittling to make others laugh.  I'm probably looking at it wrong....

Give me an ol movie or fishing show......

I used to watch red skeleton tapes when I was a kid staying at my grandmas. Hilarious!

Rodney was a favorite of mine as long as it wasn't stand up. He would wear you out in five minutes. Now movies, that was another thing. I like to tell people that I'm "looking for the fountain of middle age" or "when I die I'm donating my body to science fiction".

Great. I saw Jerry perform several times. One of the funniest story tellers ever. Comedy doesn’t have to be vulgar.

It is my personal opinion that most everything these days is garbage. Popular music, TV, movies, manufactured goods like cars, most stuff you can buy on Amazon, journalism, politicians (always getting worse), most tools, even clothing. You name it, it's probably garbage.
