I'm thinking about replacing my Dobyns Xtasy with something different and I can't decide between something I've been interested in for awhile now which is the Conquest 843c MBR or something that has recently caught my eye, the new Megabass Destroyer P5, either the Super Destroyer or the X-Bites.

I would like something as sensitive as the NRX, but I don't want a 10+ year old rod.

I love the carbon fiber grips on the Super Destroyer and the length, because I kayak fish a lot, but do worry a little about losing casting distance.

I've heard great things about the X-Bites and wonder if the the Super Destroyer will be as crisp.

I'm throw a lot of Neko rigged worms and T-Rigs, but would like as versatile of a rod that I could get away with.

I'm concerned about warranties, if I'm not mistaken, the Conquest warranty is better than the Megabass?

Which rod would you get?

Lots of variables here. The conquest is likely a more versatile rod because of its soft taper but not nearly as good as a Texas rigged rod due to its soft tip. Megabass for meee.

Never held the Megabass, but from the build quality of the Conquests I've handled, I'd take a Megabass sight unseen

Don't sleep on the poison adrenas if versatility is your thing. The 7'2 h is also an awesome jig rod while the 7'3 MH is fantastic all around. They can be had for half the price and punch wayyyyy above their price point.

Megabass Xbite is an upgrade version of the NRX 853c.  Buy the Conquest 843c now, add the Xbite later.  I loved them both.

I haven't felt the P5 yet but I have two Conquests- 844, 843.

I'm actually not impressed by the Conquest. I was just expecting a little more.

I do have two poison adrena- 7'2 hvy, 7'3 med hvy. I'm totally impressed with them. Very nice rods for the money.

I sold a megabass fmj and daemos to buy the poison adrena rods-No regrets.

You should try the new P5 to see how they compare. I'm sure they are nice.

I went ahead and ordered the Conquest now because it was the only one I could get a good discount on at the moment. The Poison Adrena is sold out just about everywhere, but I would like to eventually try that and the Destroyer P5 though.

This. Amazing rod for the money. You won't regret a PA.

So far I'm liking the Conquest 843c after fishing with it 3 times so far.

How is that 7'2 H Adrena? I have enough MH rods now, I need something with some power, currently using a Champion XP 734. Do you happen to know the weight of that Adrena model?

My 7'2 h adrena weighs 4.27 on my scale. My 7'3mh weighs, 3.83oz. I've used the 734. The adrena is way more sensitive, weighs less and has a faster tip. I absolutely love my 7'2 h for flipping and pitching but also like it for just about anything when you're using a heavier bait. I've been pitching a 5.8 inch Texas rigged worm with it into trees. It's got the power to get them out of the cover quick.

This may have been touched on before, but what techniques are you using the 7'3" medium heavy for?  The listing of a regular-fast taper has been a little off-putting to me, and has been the only real reason that I haven't picked one up yet to try out.

Thanks, yeah that is almost a full ounce less than the 734 and probably more powerful too. Someone did mention on another forum that their 7'2 H did feel mushy to them and that has me worried a bit, but you say it feels sensitive to you.

I have only used my mh's for weightless senkos, 1/8 & 3/16 Texas rigs, and a lot of chatterbaits. It's a great chatterbait rod. I do like it a lot for light Texas rigs too. Its probably more similar matched to a Loomis mbr taper? With that said I really enjoy it.

Not mushy to me. Plenty sensitive. I moved on from my nrx 893 to the steeze bottom contact rod, it is a mh/h. I've been fishing the h adrena along side the steeze due to it being able to roll cast into cover better due to being 3 inches shorter. The adrena is plenty sensitive even next to the bottom contact steeze

I am bias to Megabass rods and I have used other high-end rods such as Loomis Glx, Daiwa steez and Handa down Megabass blows them all out of the water.

From sensitive bottom contact to technology on taper and power transfer no other rod compares to the Destroyer line up.

Just going to add this being a yak fisherman if you can find a tour versatile Orochi XX it may be something to think about. I use one for skipping a jig and the rod out performs my steez

I don’t have a conquest but have an Med/Heavy Xpride and also have a Baby plugging P5 destroyer have not had a ton of time with my Megabass but can tell that the P5 is quit a bit more sensitive then my Xpride and e6x rods. The Megabass is high quality but warranty is not as good as Gloomis.
