I fished hard this Spring and Summer so now it's time to settle down a little bit. I plan to take all my reels off, clean them up and re-spool them. When I start putting them back on I will be going a different direction with a few of them. I am going to give you a list of my rods and you tell me what technique you would use it for. I have any reel to fit the bill and any line as well, but if you want to include the line feel free. I have most of them figured out, just trying to see if my ideas are any different. I'm also interested to see if you have an idea for a rod that I haven't thought of. Thanks in advance for taking the time to play along.

That's a big list but I have a question???

Time to slow down and do all that?  I'm in northern Illinois and I'll slow down when the ice gets here!  My last day on my kayak in 2019 was Black Friday!  Did well too!

Yep, water temp was 89 yesterday. I will take a few weeks off and get back at it come September.

Going back to work really put a damper on things as well. Having 5 months off was nice. :)

Oh, got it.  I just went back to work last week too.   After being off since early April.

That's a very nice collection of rods for sure. Having those in Oklahoma, and having them where I live in California, would probably get two very different lists.

Are these all casting rods?

My only spinning combo is being delivered tomorrow.  I need to see what all this finesse talk is about. .

Hmmmmmmmm. I'm not too sure, but MAYBE .... just maybe .... I know which brand of rod you prefer.  ?     jj

Beyond fan boy I suppose.

Bigger question is, can you guess the reel brand that sits on these? LOL

Just one thing wrong with that list.  They all start with 'Shimano'.

Kidding aside....nice arsenal.  Kind of doubt many will give you a list of rods vs techniques.  Just for giggles, I tried a smaller list than that a few years ago.  No response to my post.  Not even like the answers you have received so far.  Of course my rods aren't nearly as nice as yours.  :(

I'll bet it's the same brand as on my rods. Shimano.     jj

I didn't figure, just interested to see where everyone differs on how they would use a rod. My thread about a chatterbait rod is what really got me to thinking about it.

Ok I like this project... I'm gonna have to write these down on paper and match them up with techniques... gonna take some time... I'm excited... pretty fun project.  I might do the same with my rods just to see if I'm thinking right.

So if I take this seriously and give you a full response of what I think... u gotta do same for me, JB.

Yea, I will give you a reply as well. These are all casting rods. I have plenty of line on bulk spools in the following: 14, 16, 18 lb Sniper Fluoro, 12 & 14 lb Sufix Elite Mono and 40 or 50 lb Sufix 832. I have enough 65 lb 832 to do a couple reels

One more question and I'm done... how does the cumulus and experide compare as far as sensitivity

The cumulus is probably more on the softer side. I would say it is a moving bait or or slow moving light weight bottom contact rod.

I could be super wrong.... but looks good on paper....you have alot of rods.. I started to do it as if I was rigging them for me to go fishing tmw.... it's just weird for me, Cuz I've I'll only fished with 2 of those rods

Thanks, you put exactly what I had in mind for a lot of them.

@jbsoonerfan you could try that cumulus as a PRIMARY Jerkbait rod, especially if your like me and like throwing the heavier jerkbaits... since its on the soft side... also try some big 2.5 squarebills with it.  But it still may be too fast.

I currently use it for bottom contact, haven't tried it with moving baits yet. Sorry, just being honest.

Slightly off topic but I see you have the 7’3” mh poison, curious how soft “regular” action is on that rod, is it for cranking or bottom contact?

Not to hijack the post but I use mine for t-rigs. I haven't tried it for crankbaits but feels a little stiff for cranking to me.

To me it feels more like a fast action.

I dont think you are hijacking at all, I think @jbsoonerfan wanted to how y'all would rig them out.

Only took me a few minutes... but I was hard Cuz I have only fished with 2 of those rods... so i had to go by spec only... having fished with them would make it easier for someone to go through the list like I did
