Hey guys so I was wondering if anyone has an experience with the mega bass jdm orochi xxx specifically the jade python rod? I know it's slightly older but the price tag is what really draws me. I was curious how it would match up to other brands in that 250 range.

I was all set to chime in, I have a small arsenal of Orochi XX rods, but not that one! LOL

FYI I love these rods.

I have an xXx but not that one.  They are the JDM XX rods basically.  They are great.  Get one through The Tackle Trap so you get a warranty.

That's where I saw it and even though it's a 2017? Model I like the price ha not to mention the length action and power

They came out before the current xx rods.  They are same blank material but have different tapers from the USDM rods.  They also have a half EVA grip, buttcap medallion and painted guide frames.  Sensitivity is very good for the money and they are well balanced.  You just have to find out if the rod you are looking at is going to fit the bill is all.  Tackle Tour forums is a good place to start.

I would cross shop it with the Orochi xx whipsnake.  Worth a read.

Hmm that's a good read it would be more for bottom contact presentation light tubes neko neds and maybe the random light top water like the baby torpedo and the like. I'll have to check out the whipsnake

Warranty is valid through all authorized dealers as long as you buy new

Megabass does things differently than the other companies. They will make that 2017 version for as long as they choose to and then it will be gone. They might come out with a new version, but they probably won't. And if they do, it will likely be a different rod with a different blank and maybe even intended for a different purpose. That's how they suck you in.

Each rod is kind of a limited time offering. You'd have to buy maybe a hundred to have them all. I have no problem buying used older Megabass rods either. It's the only way to get many of the particular rods you might covet. the older rods are great rods too. Sometimes tyhe newer ones are better but mostly they are just different IMO.

The Jade Python is pretty well thought of by anyone I've heard using them.Tackle Trap are great guys to do business with, and the XXX are nice rods (especially at the price).

Someone said that the XxX are the JDM version of the XX, which technically is true I think, but they are completely different rods using different materials, different profiles and different actions, specialty tips and lengths that are made for the tastes and techniques favored by Japanese fishermen. I have come to have the same tastes once I started using the JDM rods myself.

The xxx are the ones I'm so intrigued with.  I like the shorter rods with heavier actions...and they seem down right specific... with the new yak, shorter rods are what I like too

I have the XXX Black Themis and really like it.  It’s a great little finesse rod and is the perfect ml/xf spinning rod substitute.  I’ve looked at a couple other XXX rods but I’ve never pulled the trigger on one, although I would have no hesitation doing so based on my experience with the BT.

Yeah I mean the biggest plus side for me is the price tag ha
