G3 released an electric-only bass boat. http://www.g3boats.com/EagleSeries/176Electric/ As someone who fishes electric only, I'm glad to see a manufacturer do something like this. I'd love to be able to purchase this boat only w/o the motors and electronics that they have packaged with it. But with that said, I have no idea what their justification would be for leaving the console w/ steering wheel and the full seats. I don't think these are needed at 5 mph Quote

I flip the transom mount on via a bigfoot switch on the front deck and steer with my foot controlled TM. Works just fine that way, and I haven't yet fallen off the boat while driving. That's what I'm looking for on this rig. One 65-80 lb TM up front, and two 80-100 lb TM in the rear. All the finish and storage of a bass boat. My perfect boat Quote

Just ditch the console, put a swivel seat in there, and extend the casting platform. How fast can the thing go? Its not like you'll need that windscreen blazing down the lake at 5 mph, LOL. I think they took the easy way out, and didn't think the whole idea through, from the ground up. An electric only could be so much more than this. Just look at what some of our members have done themselves. This boat looks like an electric motor retrofitted bass boat, not an "all new design" as described in the marketing literature. Quote

I agree -- it's like they want to respond to the needs/wants of the electric-only fishing population without asking that same population what they want in a boat Personally, I'd have ZERO use for the seats or console. I checked out the rear motor and it's a $2600, 48v (4 batteries, imagine when you have to replace all them!!), pontoon motor that only lasts 2 hours. That's not a very long day of fishing. I realize most electric only lakes aren't giant and 2 hours of off and on could get you around, but it's awfully limiting as far as where you're gonna trailer your boat. You wanna spend all that money on a brand new boat and not be able to take it on any of your bigger fishing trips? I think a lot of the electric only boats I've seen put together by members on here are cheaper in the long run and way more functional. I would have preferred to see them lighten up the boat (less material/labor = cheaper) instead of finding the biggest (most expensive) electric motor and just slap it on. Maybe add a fuel tank and wiring so the rear motor is interchangeable. Maybe it wouldn't be so 1 dimensional then. Quote
