One technique I have impressed the locals with a few times this year is casting from shore and bombing my bait into a tree along the same shoreline. I mainly do it when sidearm casting. I think it must look cool because everybody points and stares in awe.

@Teal & @Fishin' Fool what is the best way to use a double fluke as far as speed of retrieve, pauses, jerks, yo-yoing?

My standard cadence is jerk, jerk, pause and vary it from there. Some days faster jerks. Some days more pauses. Let the fish tell you what they want.

SLOW and gently twitched. You want them to look like suspended feeding shad.

Last time I went shore fishing I did the infamous and impressive “try to bomb a cast super far, hit a limb of the tree right behind me with the bait, and proceed to get a backlash so bad I needed to cut all the line off and respool”. My fishing buddy was really jealous
