schplurg Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 One technique I have impressed the locals with a few times this year is casting from shore and bombing my bait into a tree along the same shoreline. I mainly do it when sidearm casting. I think it must look cool because everybody points and stares in awe. 2 7 Quote
Smells like fish Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 @Teal & @Fishin' Fool what is the best way to use a double fluke as far as speed of retrieve, pauses, jerks, yo-yoing? Quote

My standard cadence is jerk, jerk, pause and vary it from there. Some days faster jerks. Some days more pauses. Let the fish tell you what they want. 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 19, 2020 Super User Posted August 19, 2020 SLOW and gently twitched. You want them to look like suspended feeding shad. 1 Quote

Last time I went shore fishing I did the infamous and impressive “try to bomb a cast super far, hit a limb of the tree right behind me with the bait, and proceed to get a backlash so bad I needed to cut all the line off and respool”. My fishing buddy was really jealous 3 Quote
