What I mean is do you transport them with hook and lures or do you wait till you get to your spot?  I use snap swivels a lot and like that I can transport them in the back of my car w/o snagging on anything.

Since I transport my rods lashed between the rear and mid seats of the canoe - first-choice lures are tied on before I head out.

I make up my mind what lures to tie on lures while fishing. My habit is to store rods in expando sleeving after tieing a loop on the end of the line, the loop goes on the rod handle, then spin the line the rod guides a few times.

if fishing and leave a lure tied on use a lure wrap to protect the line, rod blank and prevent the hooks from snagging something.

Never used a snap swivel for bass fishing, snap or clip or swivel without snap is OK.

Tieing lures and hooks only takes a few seconds so retie often.

Generally transport them in the boat and have lures/plastics tied on based on for where and when I'm fishing,  Lure wraps for Treble hooks and like Tom,  I spin my line around the rod and eyelets for soft plastics pitting hook in rods keeper.

I like playing and checking my tackle the night before..especially for those 3AM leave times ?

Perhaps look at something like this ~

I use them on the rigged rods in my boats rod locker, which is often somewhat over capacity.

Really helps to keep treble hooks from finding a problem.

I talk about them briefly here :

Those are pretty cool.  I often find I get treble hooks caught on random stuff.

As far as how transport my rods> most things stayed tied on until I decide to change.

My rods are all rigged up. I don't put any plastic's on until I'm ready to fish. I do always have a spinnerbait tied on though.

Also, my swimbaits get tied on when I get to the lake.

Mine get transported strapped to the bow of my kayak, handles under the kayak seat. Single hook baits are already tied on, trebles are put on when I get there.

I have a bunch of vinyl from an old tonneau cover.  I cut out 10 bait wraps, took them to a local upholstery shop and they sewed velcro on them.  They even provided the velcro and charged me $3 each.  I keep them on treble hook baits and all of my rods  are in sleeves.

I use the snap swivels too.  Well, they're not always swivels, but some kind of snap.  I like the Spro Split Snaps pretty well.  I keep them on when fishing with crankbaits and some other lures.  But for a lot of things, I'll just cut them off when I decide what I want to use, and tie that one directly.  I'll often store them in the pocket of my PFD and then reattach them when I'm done for the day.  Palomar knots are great for this.  Sometimes I'll leave a jig tied up.  The single hook with the weed guard doesn't seem to catch anything.  Same with a spinnerbait.  But most everything else gets cut off.

I wish someone would make a snap on line saver that would hold onto the line for this purpose.  I've though about using those tiny red and white bobbers, but they take up to much space in the tackle box when not in use.

I understand why some people use snaps or snap swivels.   It isn't easy for older people with arthritis or coordination issues to retie every time they wish to change lures.  If you are capable, you should know this is costing you fish.  In the north where toothy fish exist, you don't have much choice.  If you have a choice, always tie your line directly to the lure.

@Captain Phil, I've hear this debate for years.  I'm not sure if I'm losing fish or not.  I tend to use one rod when I'm fishing and change lures often so it's just easier with snaps.

Lures tied on, rods in the rod locker in the boat.
