Super User DitchPanda Posted August 17, 2020 Super User Posted August 17, 2020 So we all know as seasons progress there are emerging patterns that excel and then taper off...in the course of the year many baits turn on then off. Over the course of my open water season I will throw jerkbaits, lipless, swim jig, spinnerbait, frog, popper and on and on. But one thing I throw in all 3 open water seasons that regularly gets bit regardless of water temp is a small flipping jig...specifically a BOSS finesse flip or siebert sniper. What bait do you lean on heavily all year? Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted August 17, 2020 Super User Posted August 17, 2020 Rage Bug.....if that isn't the ticket, a CutR. One of those is on my lighter flipping rig....always...365 4 Quote

Super User MIbassyaker Posted August 17, 2020 Super User Posted August 17, 2020 I had to think about this, as I wasn't sure at first there is any particular bait I always have tied on...but I realize I do have one: a Senko or other stick worm. Quote
Super User king fisher Posted August 17, 2020 Super User Posted August 17, 2020 I always have a spinner bait tied on. I try hard to make a jig or soft plastic my go to lure, but a spinner bait is still my confidence lure. Quote

He did pretty well. I always have a black/blue jig and craw tied on, year round. I have a dedicated frog combo, so that's always tied on it. I just leave it home when it's really cold or tie a jig on it and use the other jig rod for T rigs. I usually have a Trick Worm on. This year I've had a Chug Bug on an awful high percentage of the time. War Eagle 3/8 oz. gold spinnerbait double willow in gold shiner pattern. 1 Quote

Super User Teal Posted August 17, 2020 Super User Posted August 17, 2020 Most of my rods 5hrow multiple things, except my jig rods... they throw jigs. I always have some type of jig on a rod. Period. Do not pass Go. Do not collect 200$, gone straight to Jig 1 Quote
Logan S Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 This rod with this bait is on my deck close to 100% of the time...It doesn't mean that I fish with it the most, but its always ready to go. If I'm struggling for a bite, this will go into action to solve that problem . 4 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 17, 2020 Super User Posted August 17, 2020 Senko and a jig. Quote

BoatSquirrel Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 When you have a bait tied on all year you end up with a dogpile of dedicated rods like the one in my garage...ned rod, another ned rod, spook rod, jerkbait rods, senko rod, flippin rod, frog rod...ugh. 1 Quote

Smells like fish Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 Always a GYCB Senko, jig and a topwater of some type. 1 Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted August 17, 2020 Super User Posted August 17, 2020 Always a 5” Senko wacky rig on a 1/0 Gammy octopus hook. Most likely in watermelon copper orange red laminate or green pumpkin. Having just really gotten back in fishing I may change that as I progress, but for now, it’s an easy decision. I probably have caught 75% of the bass I’ve landed with that. 2 Quote
