Sphynx Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Well this morning was an interesting outing, got my whopper plopper caught on a dock, nobody around, so I got in the old birthday suit and went and got it, of course a boat puts in next to me as I finally got the d**n thing loose, "Early for a dip ain't it man?" I warned them that I wasn't wearing anything, was told "Oh stop, your joking" and I'm pretty sure I blinded the old fella, lesson learned lol, anybody else ever done anything they aren't too proud of or extreme to retrieve a favorite lure? (Whopper plopper in monkey butt in the 90 size for those curious) 1 6 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted August 16, 2020 Super User Posted August 16, 2020 The closest thing Ive had is hooking a trot line and cutting it to get my crankbait back. I also hooked a baby duck by mistake once when it swam over my line right when a fish bit. I missed the fish but hooked the little duck. Momma wasnt happy, so I had a friend act like he was threatening her other chicks, so she went over there while I unhooked the hooked chick. ? 1 Quote

lunkerboss923 Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 Caught 4 good pond stocking fish for a rehabilitation facility for men, who struggle with addiction. They have an acre pond that they use to get away for awhile. My aerator broke on my way out there. I lost 3 of 4 fish. I'm sick about it. The water here in Texas gets extremely hot. So transfer of fish is a delicate process. 1 Quote
813basstard Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 ???? I’m dying Trying to picture (unpicture) why one would have to get naked to get a top water plug? Either way, that man will always have a story when beers get opened.. 1 Quote
Sphynx Posted August 17, 2020 Author Posted August 17, 2020 I'm a truck driver, I don't have ready access to a washer and dryer, so it was much preferable to just have to towel off and not get a funky set of clothes stinking up the truck lol Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted August 17, 2020 Super User Posted August 17, 2020 I once saw a buddy wade neck deep in his boxers to retrieve a white bass wrapped up in a tree with his rapala in its mouth. This was very cold water..I'm talking northwest Iowa in November cold. Looking back it was d**n stupid of him and me for letting him do it...but we were in our early 20s so we were invincible plus a rapala seemed expensive when we made 9 or 10 dollars an hour. Now we make 3 times that and wouldn't even think of doing it. Live and learn. 1 Quote
Sphynx Posted August 18, 2020 Author Posted August 18, 2020 There aren't many lures I'd go after, but it's not easy getting replacements on the truck, and whopper plopper fish hold a special place in my life, it was still worth it Quote
