Rpratt Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 And what famous actor/cowboy was in The Sons of Pioneers? ? I am an outlaw fan. Ya know, Waylon Willie and the boys. I grew up with my family owning a few bars and I was raised on jukebox country music. I do however love the 90's country like Garth, Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Dwight Yoakam etc. Today's, well not so much. I do listen to Brad Paisley, Eric Church, Chris Stapleton and a few others. But if a Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt or Florida Georgia Line song comes on.... Well I just wanna hurl! ? Quote

He's right up there, front and center. Leonard Slye, AKA Roy Rogers. My father worked Kansas, Arizona and New Mexico in the '20s. He married Mom in the '30s. So much of the music from those times stayed with him all his life, and I heard a lot of of the older stuff while I was growing up. It brings back memories. jj 1 Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted August 18, 2020 Global Moderator Posted August 18, 2020 This is Bluegrass, so it’s close enough. For those of you who haven’t heard of the Steeldrivers, do you recognize that lead? 2 Quote

PourMyOwn Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Patty Loveless' Mountain Soul is a must have album. It inspired me to make soup beans and cornbread last night. Even my Yankee girlfriend liked it. Quote

CountryboyinDC Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 I know some may consider Ricky closer to Flatt and Scruggs than old Hank and George Jones, but if you have drums and a steel guitar, you're in C&W territory IMHO. 3 Quote
