lunkerboss923 Posted August 12, 2020 Author Posted August 12, 2020 Ok, I wanted to prove that this drop shot technique was garbage, but the truth don't lie, I've come to eat my crow! 1 Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 Now you gotta get on Tacklewarehouse tonight and order you some Yamamoto shad shaped worms, Roboworms, Jackall cross tail shad, poor boys drop shot darters and if you can find them Berkley maxscent flatworms and you'll be a drop shot pro before you know it! lunkerboss923 Posted August 12, 2020 Author Posted August 12, 2020 Quite honestly, I'm not sure if they even sell dropshot tackle at Academy, Wal-Mart or Dick's. I think the closest I can come to dropshot lure is a Zoom Fluke Jr. Quote

I got hurt playing football, couldn't play sports anymore, so I focused on my two loves hunting and fishing. Used to fish the bulkheads all the time. Quote
Fishin' Fool Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 Mike Iaconelli caught a 8 pounder during the Bassmaster Classic on LK Conroe I believe it was in 2017. As i recall that fish was on a spinning rod and it might have been on a drop shot or maybe a shakey head worm. Quote

PiedmontAngler Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 I’ve been learning new techniques this summer and drop shot is one of them. It will catch fish when nothing else can. Whether it be 2’ or 40’ deep, under docks, in a lake, pond or river. I start with other things but will end up on the DS if things are slow. The Megabass Hazedong is great and you can usually swim it to you rather than just sitting there. Quote
Ogandrews Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 One thing I didn’t say in my previous post was that a dropshot does not have to be a finesse thing. All a dropshot is is a hook suspended above a weight, that could be a #2 light wire hook on 6lbs test with a little 3” worm and an 1/8th oz weight, or it could be a 5/0 super line flipping hook with 65lbs braid, 1.5 oz weight and a big worm used as a punch rig. Majority of my dropshotting is done on a baitcaster with a 3/8 or 1/2 weight, medium wire hook and a mid sized worm fished around grass. You can use straight tails, curly tails, creature baits, swimbaits, flukes, whatever you want. 1 Quote
