Is there anyway to avoid weed getting on the shank of the hook when fishing a senko? I’m fishing a 5” senko with 3/0 vmc Ewg hook and milfoil is constantly tangling on the hook shank and the bene right below the hook eye

Hooks catch weeds.....you can only try to manage it and that said, I have got great fish tearing through the weeks.

I use offset worm hooks when possible.  My terminal knot is a uni, but run the tag end through the loop at the hook when cinching so it won’t catch.

I also think mega strike may help things slip through, but there is no secret remedy.. I have tried the “chicken rig” and had success

This and move the senko further up and over the top of the eye of the hook so that the knot is hidden in the worm. Works well, but there is still some junk here and there but not near as much.

Maybe try flipping hook type? I never tried on Senko but use a lot with trick worm in weed area.

Something is wrong there.  I always Texas rig an EWG texposed on a 5" Senko and drag it through various grasses and have nothing on the hook when it comes back.

Owner CPS light (or regular) in 2/0 or 3/0 - has no exposed bend, senkos last longer on it anyway.

Only time I ever really heard of this was with those biodegradable big bites baits that would just completely disintegrate in the water
