Super User DitchPanda Posted August 9, 2020 Super User Posted August 9, 2020 I've been really getting into the shallow crankbait game lately. While I know there are lots of good options out there like Mann's minus 1, bandit footloose, kvd 1.5 shallow etc. I came across these and was intrigued. Anybody throw these? Quote
waymont Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 I have been since I was a young kid. They catch fish for sure. They have a distinctive wobble. I am a Rebel fan in general. I love the Rebel Humpy crank too. 1 Quote

Rpratt Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 A little over 40 years ago, my brother caught a 3lb bass with a Rebel Humpback (of which I still own) which started my bass addiction. I think the line was discontinued and just in the last few years made its return. 2 Quote
MGF Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Now I have to go find mine. I had one when I was a kid. I caught bass on it and I don't remember losing it so it should be here somewhere. The river is low. It might be just the ticket in some places. Quote
volzfan59 Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 I have one of the old "Humpbacks" that a friend gave me probably 25 years ago. I used it numerous times on Norris Lake in East TN and caught a truck load of smallies. As time wore on, I didn't want to chance loosing it so it now resides on the wall with some Krippled Killers and other old lures that have special meaning to me. Sorry to go off the reservation a little. The Humpback is an excellent lure. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted August 9, 2020 Super User Posted August 9, 2020 I use to have a couple . I never caught a lot with them like I did the Wee R's . Quote
basser27 Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 They are good when they work. I bought a bunch a few years ago and half of them wouldn’t swim properly. Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted August 9, 2020 Super User Posted August 9, 2020 I use them on occasion mostly around Cypress knees in the swamp. It's great seeing Rebel baits mentioned and used! Quote

Actually caught a sizable channel cat on one the other day. 1 Quote

I thought about bringing that thread back but there was so little interest I let it go. To be fair though there were a few that always chimed in. Quote

Not sure if you use eBay, but there are usually some available. I still buy them on occasion. Referring to the humpback Rebel. Quote

That’s exactly right. I liked running rebel jerk baits for pike in the river because, they were inexpensive if a toothy critter took one. However, I learned to buy 2 at a time due one probably wouldn’t swim right no matter how much tuning was done to it. I havnt been able to find this gold and black backed one any where. Places only keep the silver one in stock this ones be through a couple northerns Quote

Still use the Wee R and the Deep Wee R even more. Pradco has brought back a lot of classics out of retirement the last couple of years. I'm hoping the Mudbug will be next. Quote
