I've seen thousands in my life so I'm always on the lookout for unknown and underseen movies. Anybody have any suggestions for good horror movies that aren't well known and flew under the radar or maybe are just forgotten? In the forgotten category, but scared the crap out of me as a kid; Black Sunday from 1960, not the one from the 70s with the Superbowl. I've re watched some clips on YouTube. It has aged into the somewhat campy category, but is very atmospheric and well worth a watch. Quote

Super User Way2slow Posted April 14, 2021 Super User Posted April 14, 2021 I'm too much of a realist for that junk. Those and the super hero movies, total waste to my notion. I find myself just sitting there thinking how stupid most of the scenes are for someone to think something like that could happen. Because of that, I can't just sit down and enjoy a movie for what it is, I find myself just picking the stupid scenes apart, so I don't go to the movies. Back when Alien first came out, my wife wanted to go to the movies. That's the last time I've been to those type. True Grit, First full of Dollars, Green Beret's (I was in that one, got $35 for being a dead man. It was filmed at Ft Benning while I was in college at Columbus, but did get to meet John Wayne) those were my type. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 14, 2021 Super User Posted April 14, 2021 Zombeaver was good as far as B movies are concerned. Quote
dave Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 I've seen the original 1973 The Exorcist many times, I even went to see the release a number of years back in theaters. #1 Horror movie in my book. Based on a true story that happened right here in Maryland. Only a fool believes the devil isn't real. My 31 year old daughter, when she was in high school, was into the horror movies of the time. She and her boyfriend would see every one that came out. She insisted that The Exorcist could not be all that scary because it was made in 1973 and how could they possibly have made a movie back then as scary as the current batch. I own it on DVD. I invited them to watch one Friday night. Not too far into the movie, she was watching it through slightly opened fingers with her hands over her eyes. When Regan's head spun around, she said, "I'm done, you win, I can't watch this". Both of them refused to finish the movie. Being based on a true story, I see it as a victory over evil. Quote
Deplorable Fisherman Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 Greatest horror film of all time...John Carpenter's The Thing Not sure if you've seen Cut and Run. Definitely a hard to find movie with Willie Aimes from 8 is Enough ? and Michael Barryman of The Hills Have Eyes fame. This is me in New York at a Fangoria con in maybe 1991 Quote
