whats your opinion on locks for your sonar? seems to only be one brand out there for this purpose just can give a ease of mind. my old boat has a garmin which you can take from the cradle and store but new boat has hds live 12 and cant take it off without taking all the wires loose. really only need for when run into store or restaurant to get food but you cant always be watching your boat in there.

I bought 4 of the locks to use on my Helix units. That initial purchase hurt, but they have been well worth it. I can go in to the store or restaurant or wherever and i don't have to worry about taking them off. In fact, I leave mine on 24/7, they are on at the house and on the way to and from the lake. One of the best investments I have made.

I don’t have locks.  I have replacement non deductible for theft and vandalism insurance.

Use a RAM or similar mount, 1/4 to 1 turn connectors on the sonar unit is easy to disconnect. Remove the sonar units when trailering the boat. Takes about 1 minute to install or remove.

MY sonar units are older ( circa 2007 ), what I do is install them when I get to the lake and when I take out I remove then and put the  units in padded cases and store them in the fishing truck.

I had one lock on my humminbird I decided to take it off. If someone wants to steel your units they will. I figured if I took the lock off they wouldn’t ruin my dash trying to rip it off.
