Super User Fishes in trees Posted August 7, 2020 Super User Posted August 7, 2020 The story I heard is that the Beaver bait is called a "beaver" because the owner of the company, prior to the company being formed, won the FLW Walmart Open on Beaver Lake in Arkansas a couple of years in a row using a prototype of that soft plastic, and that is what inspired him t for the company and begin marketing baits. I believe Andre Moore is the guys name, but I'm not sure about the name or the story. 1 Quote

Dens228 Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 I have both the Spicy and the Sweet Beavers. Love them. 1 Quote
Ski213 Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 The Little Dipper in white trash was an absolute rockstar for me this spring. Next tackle run I’m going to try to grab some of their other baits and give them a try. I hear nothing but good. Quote

Is it a pain getting a wacky ring over it? Do they (especially the 5.5") fit in the wacky rig tool? i use both although i use the 4.5 the most. the o ring is a little big for the narrow spotin the middle but its noat a big deal and the smallmouth devour the dirty sanchez color 2 Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted August 8, 2020 Super User Posted August 8, 2020 The Sweet Beaver is an excellent bait. 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 8, 2020 Global Moderator Posted August 8, 2020 I use the full size beaver for flipping and the smallie as a jig trailer. I had some of the pocket rockets but they were underwhelming and very fragile. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted August 8, 2020 Super User Posted August 8, 2020 Assuming that "Sweet Beaver" got its name from the owner's success at "Beaver Lake"; the owner had a 2nd remarkable success, when he hired a sales manager who baited a myriad of fishermen. Roger 2 Quote
Jaderose Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 I can't believe I'm going to publicly admit this but I find some of the names of their baits and colors to be offensive. I'm not a prude in any way but I guess I see fishing as a family friendly activity and as a man with daughters I just don't like it. Not enough to "protest" or worry about but enough that I won't buy them. I'm sure they don't miss my money and I have no interest in telling others what to or not to buy. I just personally don't care for it 2 Quote
waymont Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 I can see the beaver tail comparison. A spicy beaver in dirty sanchez.....come on. 1 Quote

In the current environment, why aren’t there demands that those names be removed or changed? Maybe there are, just haven’t seen it. Or maybe a bait company isn’t big enough to fly into the radar. Why is anything to do with sex 'forbidden', but games and mentions of death and violence so accepted? It's totally bass-ackwards in my mind. Saying that, I think the names RI came up with are funny. 4 1 Quote

Fair enough....I'm not trying to stir the pot nor am I trying to be political or try to get anyone else to stop buying them. Strictly my opinion that won't even buy a cup of coffee. I've seen enough praise for them to realize they are probably great baits. Quote

From what I see none of them are particularly sexist. Some are maybe a little too much for what many people view as a "family" sport, but I personally am not offended. I am a little surprised someone hasn't complained about it, I know there are quite a few religious members on here. The old package they used to use is pretty wack, but they got rid of that. Quote
Shadow1 Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 Love the Flirt and the Pocket Rocket. I take a VMC Rugby jighead 1/8oz, cut an inch off the Pocket Rocket, bang . . . creek smally killer. Quote
JediAmoeba Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 I am on the opposite side of the spectrum....i bought these baits originally because of the packaging and clever names. ? 3 Quote
