Eddie101 Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Where or which areas would you target to catch bass? A local 10 acre lake that I frequent these days was all swelled up, and I couldn't get a single bite. I usually catch fairly decent sized bass - between 2-3 lbs - there too, but these days I'm catching a fat zero. I'm fishing from the shore so should I cast parallel to the shore more instead of casting out to the other side of the lake? There is grass on the otherside of the lake, next to a floating fountain where fish used to congregate. I think some bubba called off the meeting there, and moved on. Quote

lunkerboss923 Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 After a big rain, all the microorganisms wash into the pond and you'll see baitfish right up to the shoreline, the bass will be a couple of feet deeper right below the shelf or around cover waiting to ambush the baitfish. This is a cool thing to watch. I frequent a pond by my house and sometimes, I'll just go to my spot and watch the activity. The place is a shallow area with lots of cypress knees and root systems. The baitfish will be in a school picking off microorganisms and the bass will bull rush them knocking some clear in the air and stun them and pick off the easy pray that fall to the surface. A good lure to throw is a silver and blue lipless shad just infront of the roots, I also have had luck with a white double willow leaf spinnerbait. 1 Quote
