Esox pro Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 My shimano syncopate is fraying my line does anyone know what the problem with the reel is Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted August 5, 2020 Super User Posted August 5, 2020 If it's not the roller - I'd check the guides on the rod, might have a nick. Take a Q-Tip and run it around the inside of the guides, the 'fluff' of the Q-Tip will hang up on a nick. More often than not, fraying line is a rod issue, not a reel issue. Quote

If it is the reel it would be from one of the points in contact with the line. The roller, the bail wire or the lip of the spool. Check those areas for any rough spots. Quote
Esox pro Posted August 5, 2020 Author Posted August 5, 2020 I checked them and didn’t find any problems I have footage of it but dont know how to upload and just got a new reel Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted August 5, 2020 Super User Posted August 5, 2020 How old is the line? If there are no stuffs on the lip of the spool, or the roller or the guides on the rod, I'd venture to guess that old age could be the culprit. Or maybe, where have you been fishing? Abrasion against vegetation and woody/brushy cover can cause line fraying. Quote
Esox pro Posted August 5, 2020 Author Posted August 5, 2020 Never mind i got a new reel with a problem Quote
