As we roll into the dog days of summer, fishing can get tough.  But it doesn't have to be that way if you try these tactics.

I have had success recently fishing a lake with lots of weeds, and just as he said, I had to throw the lure way high in the air with a 1/2 oz bullet weight to get it to punch through, and most the bites were on that initial fall.

I'll trade my Summer for two Winters. Summer's definitely my slowest season.

Ironically enough, Its the exact opposite for me. Winter has been a dreaded time for me simply because I don't know how to fish! Any tips, advice or possibly threads about winter fishing tactics would be greatly appreciated!!

Slow down.  Go early, stay late.

Here in Florida, the summer season is largely a 'punching' game.

When you find the right weed-mat, it can hold a remarkable number of bass, like no other time of year

What is this thing called a "weed" you're talking about.?  All the lakes I fish here in KY have no weed beds.

Where would you hang out in the heat of summer?  Would you stay out in the hot sun or cool off in the shade?   Going deep here in Florida is meaningless.  Our best summer spots are boat docks, bridge pilings and weed beds.  By 9 AM, the morning bite is over.  That's when I get out my flipping stick and head to the deepest thickest cover I can find.    There is one exception and that is bass chasing schools of bait fish.  I have been in 93 degree water with schooling bass hitting all around me. My best schooling bass lure is a fluke.

Well I hang out in the middle of the river all summer but I’m a glutton for punishment! I have also seen some vicious top water schooling in super hot water. Near my house, the water is always fast and cool. Down river a ways closer to the next dam, it slows down and warms up. Late summer most of the shad are down lake up on the surface in the hot water. They are almost thick enough to walk on and always getting busted

I'd add that not only are all waters different, every year is different on the same body of water.
