Code-mam Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 (edited) I’ve been looking for a reel for my diawa tatula frogging rod. Did my research before going to the store originally wanted a tatula 200. But it wasn’t in stock So I settled on a coastal tw 200 7.3 ratio what do you guys think about this reel for frogging? I know it’s a salt water reel and I’m not fishing salt water, but the added capacity for 65lb braid and 15.4lb drag were a plus in my book. I read a similar post about this they mentioned it didn’t have magforce z it only had the magforce system not to sure what the difference is or how to tell the difference in which one you would have but daiwa’s online catalog shows The coastal tw has the magforce z it if that matters at all. So did I pick a good frog reel? Or should I return it and look at another option? I have an tatula elite that I like and would buy another one but idk how good of an idea it is to add 50 or 65lb Line to a smaller 100 series spool for frogging. Nelson Delaney Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Should work fine for frogging. And if you ever hit the salt you already have a reel for it. Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted August 2, 2020 Super User Posted August 2, 2020 About 80% sure that reel is about the same as the Tatula CT Type R, but has a deeper spool. It will work fine for frogging. I imagine if you ask the fish, they wouldn't know the difference between a saltwater reel and a bass reel. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted August 2, 2020 Super User Posted August 2, 2020 Maybe just a tad overkill, but it should work just fine. Plus you can swap it onto another rod and go swimbaits fishing, so that's a plus.. Quote
