Hey guys,

I’d like to purchase a net for bass fishing. I mostly fish solo on a 16’ Tracker. Not a huge boat so I really don’t want something that takes up too much room.

Since I’m solo it seems like the YakAttack or Frabill Bearclaw nets would be a great choice.

Anyone tried both of these?

I have the YakAttack net but don't use it.  I like the actual "net" part but the handle is cumbersome to store in a accessible spot on my kayak without getting in the way for everything else.

That being said, I absolutely love it's rubber coated, large mesh net.  The large mesh is much better than a small mesh rubberized net as far as hooks getting tangled in it.

I currently use an Ego S1 Genesis Kryptek and love it.

If money is not a factor both of those nets beat this net but if you are on a budget this is the best net for the money hands down

Thanks guys. Not really looking at different nets - was just hoping someone had experience with one or both of these

I like my bear claw but it does have it's flaws. Fish on a yak with it and it's quite fun to use. Gotta find a rhythm with it though since it is a little different. Range is an issue so you have to get it by the yak or boat to net them. Easy to carry and doesn't take a lot of room though. Easier to use when sitting. I wouldn't use it though if I was standing on the back of my buddies bass boat because it is so much easier to net with a traditional net.

Same. I have the bear claw as well and, while it is great for my use on a kayak, it seems like there would be much better options for a boat. Agree the length would be a problem as due to the handle design, you only get an extra 18" or so of reach as the net starts just a few inches beyond the handle.

Thanks guys. I guess I’ll look at getting a traditional net for the boat

There's some pretty solid options for folding nets out there. I had one in my johnboat before it went swimming that worked great, got it from Academy. I could snap it out for use with one hand while fighting a fish.
