frosty Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 I’m throwing away all my tackle and making my own from now on! Be sure and check out this guys channel, he makes some really cool lures and swimbaits! 2 Quote
DanielG Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 Ditto that. I learned a lot from Marling baits on youtube. And he's got a style that makes you wait for his next vid. 1 Quote
Super User Koz Posted August 1, 2020 Super User Posted August 1, 2020 For a few years now I've joked here on BR that anyone could put treble hooks on a block of balsa and catch fish. Great to see that someone else had the same idea and went out and did it. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted August 1, 2020 Super User Posted August 1, 2020 Love the simplicity of this guy and “the block” I think I’ve seen his video before with tiny crankbait. Those who overthinking about how smart bass is or which fancy lure to get them should look at this video. KISS is the best. 1 Quote
jbmaine Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 I've seen fish eat cigarette butts before, so not alot would surprise me. 1 1 Quote

Definitely makes me question spending more than a few dollars on lures. $25 megabass jerkbaits, $16 whopper plopper... free block of wood from the scrap bin??♂️ Quote
Super User Koz Posted August 2, 2020 Super User Posted August 2, 2020 I do some hobbyist woodworking making furniture and other items so after watching that video above I watched more of that guy's videos thinking maybe I'll give lure making a try. Nope. The woodworking is minimal. That guy is an artist. There's no way I could make baits like that. But I do have some blocks of wood in my garage... Quote
Super User FishTank Posted August 2, 2020 Super User Posted August 2, 2020 I have seen this done years ago.... An old guy that fished some of the small strip pits my father fished made all his own lures from wood. He would whittle different shapes from a block of wood, put hooks on it and fish the thing. His favorited was a chrome painted peanut he made. That thing was a fish magnet. 1 Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted August 3, 2020 Super User Posted August 3, 2020 For a birthday present one tear, I got a box with some “lures”. A Budweiser can, Miller Lite can, Bart Simpson, a turd, and a couple I shouldn't mention on a family friendly forum. All about 2” long with diving lip in front and a treble hook on the back end. I caught fish on all of them except Bart Simpson. 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted August 4, 2020 Super User Posted August 4, 2020 I am not surprised since I have caught bass on a bare hook, cut bait, bread balls, hotdogs, etc. Quote
