Esox pro Posted July 31, 2020 Posted July 31, 2020 I have 2 fishing rods and was wondering if anyone new where I could get my guides inspected and repaired Quote
coak Posted July 31, 2020 Posted July 31, 2020 Paging @JFranco I believe he is from near or in the Rochester area and should be able to provide some insight potentially Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 I don't know anyone locally, though there must be someone that can. Maybe @clayton86 is willing? He builds his own. Quote
Esox pro Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 I just need someone to inspect and if needed replace the guides the rods that need it are my gx2 ugly stik medium 6ft6 and the other is just the 7ft medium heavy version Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 Last time I had guide work done, is was around $20 + cost of materials per guide. That was 20 years ago, and he's passed away since. Quote
Esox pro Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 What about reel repair Does anyone know anyone who does reel repair I got problems with 2 shimano syncopated and they both fray line and and need one repaired and will give the other one up for parts or something Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 Look over on the right: http://www.delawarevalleytackle.com/ He does rods, too. Price would probably be prohibitive. Quote
Esox pro Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 For reel repair there is this guy who does repairs his name’s brian here is his number (585) 455-1792 does anyone know his price This delaware guy to far and expensive Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 Call him and ask. I used to get $25 + parts, unless it was a really quick fix for locals. I don't do this anymore. Quote
Esox pro Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 Anyone on here from Rochester that will do the repairs locally Quote

Super User NYWayfarer Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 The rods (ugly sticks) and reel (Shimano Snycopate) you mentioned cost almost as much as what it will cost to repair them. In other words for a few bucks more you could buy a brand new rod or reel for what it costs to repair them. Doesn’t sound like that’s an option for you though, sorry. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 I'd just dig up the money somehow and replace them. The GX2 is what I call 'break-toss' rods. The labor charge would be about the same for those as for a NRX or Xtasy. Even my Aird-X rods I'd replace in case of breakage instead of repairing them. Quote
Esox pro Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 Well a few things every store has nothing left the poles have sentimental value thought replacing a line roller would cost $5 The guy said the reel repair would be cheap The guy said the reel repair would be cheap Quote
Esox pro Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 The guides have cracks in them and are fraying the line so maybe I could pay someone fix it or you guys would have a cheap solution Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted August 3, 2020 Super User Posted August 3, 2020 I’m over in Holley but work at the brockport runnings so not far from Rochester. I could do it if wanted. PM me and I can figure out what ya wanna do and cost. Quote
