An acquaintance of mine uses it weightless, but doing so obviously compromises on the casting distance. Do you use it, and if so how do you use it? What gear (rod, reel, line, and sinker) do you use, and what's the flavor/color of the month?

I put it on the back of a 1/4 oz jig as a trailer. I can fish it on the bottom or use it as a swimjig.

Do you cut it off in anyway? Also how do you use it as a swimjig? Do you use it with a shakeyhead?

trailers of all kinds baits...the claw is the same as the horny toads too so they work in that way in a pinch.  Who i use them as a buzz toad i will use a light keel weighted hook to help orient them and also allow it to function well as it drops into holes.  I do pinch off everything but the claws.

Yes, I cut off about 1/2 inch from the body so it does not stick out too far past the skirts. I mostly just swim it at a moderate pace, the legs flap like crazy.

I have not tried it on a shakey head, but I am sure it would work well.

I always swim and/or pitch them as a stand along bait.
I’d rather use something else as a trailer.
When swimming I usually use a 3/16, when pitching, whatever’s needed to get through what I’m pitching into.

I never swim them weightless as I think you don’t get the full effect of the tail unless being used on top.

I’ve been using them a lot lately as swim jig or regular jig trailers. Most of the time I cut the top section off, just barely leaving the first set of legs on. About 1/2” is why is cut off. That seems to make a perfect profile on the jigs. Had a lot of good luck lately with green pumpkin magic color.

I've been experimenting with them this year as a jig trailer. Everything else has gotten so expensive ive found myself buying more and more zoom products.  I too fish them on a 5/16 finesse jig and cut about half inch off the body. Usually trim my skirt to just let it hang past the hook for a compact profile.  Haven't gained a ton of confidence yet but they have caught fish and i think they're gonna be a staple

It makes for an awesome trailer on a chatterbait. It has plenty of action without being too heavy and causing a fast sink. I've caught a ton of bass on the fall with this combo.

Blue/black chatterbait with the blue vibe speed craw has been great.

By comparison, I have used a larger, blue Havoc Pit Boss trailer on that same chatterbait and rarely get bit.

I’ve used it weightless and reeled it across the top like a buzzbait. Caught 30+ dinks one morning doing that and it was one of the most fun times fishing I’ve had.

I’ve also used them as a trailer on Bitsy Bug jigs as well as alone on a Texas rig with a 3/16 oz weight.

I only use straight braid, on Med or Med Light spinning (:o) rods depending on whether I’m using a light or heavy wire hook. 2/0 fits well. Line is either 10 or 15lb depending on the hook. The braided line holds up just fine with the tungsten bullet weights.

Also only keep one color - green pumpkin magic. Not because I think it’s the best, but because I only bother to buy one color of any soft plastic and this one looks cool.

Pretty versatile baits.

I use them as trailers on 1/2 ounce football jigs and as a Texas rig. I don't cut anything off of them when used as a jig trailer. On a Texas rig I use a 2/0 offset hook with an 1/8 ounce sinker on 12# floro on a 6' MH rod and Lews Tournament MB reel. My best colors have been blk/blu on a blk/blu jig and watermelon seed on a Texas rig.

I use a 1/8 ounce belly weighted hook and I Texas rig them with anything from 1/8 to 1/4 oz for 3 inch and up 1/2 oz for 4 inch.  Use a M BC rod. When the head gets torn up I cut it off and use as a trailer for jigs.  I find it is a pretty effective plastic.  Also fills the gap between the 3 inch and 4 inch Rage Bug.  The 3inch rage bug is much smaller than the speed vibe.

In lakes with poor water clarity, the Ultravibe is high on my list

I only fish the Magnum Ultravibe as a standalone bait,

which is 7" long and has good bulk.

I T-rig with a 1/4oz weight pegged, and use it as a jig trailer too. Green Pumpkin Purple, Black w red flake, and June Bug are my colors. These days I have mostly switched to the Super Speed Craw when T-rigging it.

Fantastic baits.

Texas rigged with a 3/16 or 1/4 oz tungsten weight pegged with a 3/0 Trokar mag ewg hook. If it's a 3/16 it's on a 6'11 M+ Poison Adrena with a 20 Met and 40 lb Sufix 832. A 1/4 oz is fished on a 7'3 MH Poison Adrena with a 20 Met and also with 40lb Sufix 832. My favorite colors are Watermelon or Green Pumpkin. Always sprayed with Crawfish BANG spray. Caught some decent fish on them back in the Spring.

I missed the word "craw", and was referring to the Ultravibe 'Worm'  :goofy3:

The Ultravibe Craw is a great jig trailer, and being a noisy craw, it's a good choice in poor water clarity.

I was using a 1/4 swimjig (with a trailer: pumpkin colored Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw) and Shimano Expride ML rod this morning, and I missed a good number of my hooksets. I landed 'bout three two pounders along the way. Anyhoo, should I have used a M rod instead? My ML rod has a decent amount of backbone so naturally I am a bit perplexed.  .
