texasoldtimer Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Why would I buy the South version for the same price as the 3000 that covers the whole country? I am new to the map card scene so this may be a stupid question. Also how much changes on established lakes like Fork and Rayburn from the 2004 to 2007 to the 2009 versions? Quote
Olebiker Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 What is the Navionics 3000? I find no reference to it on the Navionics website. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 6, 2009 Super User Posted April 6, 2009 If you want to use any mapping software, you should check to see if the software has the bodies of water you fish. The newer versions have High Definition surveyed bodies of water that are added in the newest year models as they are done. Quote
STK001 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I have a Lowrance 520C on my Triton and I ended up buying the Hotmaps for my region...I'm in Virginia so I think it covers a few states, not exactly sure. However, no great detail comes up when I'm on Smith Mountain Lake...is there something other than inserting the card that I need to do or is this an older version without SML included...is there a version where Smith is on it? I understand it's supposed to show road bed's and other hidden structure.....Can someone enlighten me? I tell you I used to enjoy fishing so much when things were simpler! Now I just get overwhelmed and frustrated! Ha! Quote
Ellesar Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 The Navionics website should tell you which lakes are included. Are you getting the detail information for other lakes in the area and just not SML? Or are you not getting it at all. With most Navionics cards you have to select them in the 520C so that it will use the card instead of the built in mapping. Quote
STK001 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 You're exactly right. I ended up calling Navionics and the guy told me how to go in and get it working correctly. Thanks for your help. You just got a new 18X2 as well huh. I love mine so far. Mine doesn't have the ProXS but I do have the 150 Optimax. I got a great deal on the boat down in South Carolina. It's white with black stripes..it's pretty darn sweet. I like yours too, nice looking rig man! I've been trying to get some pics on here but the ones I have are too large...I'll post em' when I'm able. Good fishing to you! Quote

Really stable and lots of deck space. I finally got my "clue ticket" punched in regards to driving so that it doesn't chine walk and got her up to 67.4 gps. I'd like to see pics of yours as well! STK001 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I get a little bit of that too...how did you get it corrected? I'm wondering if that's why I'm not getting a ton of speed out of mine...I'm getting about 52mph with two people and gear but I feel I should be getting more out of it. Of course it may be because of the break in period. I can't imagine that I'm even close to getting through it yet considering I've only had it out 4 times and haven't ran it that much.. Quote

Proper setup helps a bit, but mostly its learning to drive it, or drive to prevent it from starting. Seat time is the best cure. I'd heard that Tritons are "drivers boats" and required some driving to get them to perform at their peak without chine walking all over the place. It just took some time driving the boat to get used to it and learn what steering the corrections that the boat needed to prevent it from starting the chine walk. Quote
