Super User Fishes in trees Posted July 30, 2020 Super User Posted July 30, 2020 There are things that I didn't know that I lost until I found them again. A couple of years ago, I found a Curado K that I forgot I'd bought. At a local tackle store, I'd saved up enough points ( that I got from buying other stuff ), that reel only cost me $20 and literally, I forgot I bought it. I found it underneath a whole bunch of other tackle when I was restocking all my gear to go to Truman Lake last fall. Filled with 20 lb Abrazx, it works well as a Biffle Bug reel. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted July 30, 2020 Super User Posted July 30, 2020 The whole tackle box no, individual package here and there, yes all the time. Recently I found Huddleston Bug which I bought two year ago in the bottom of glove compartment, and had been looking for this for years. Another one that I couldn’t find it is two package of 12” Mann’s jelly worm also ordered from Amazon about 2 years ago. Updated Now I can’t find darn 4.25” Ned Worm that I was using it week ago. Spent a good hour looking for them today and another hour yesterday. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 30, 2020 Super User Posted July 30, 2020 Wow! Just found a stash of Rage Tail Thumpers that have been MIA for awhile. Surprisingly they were on a pegboard just where they belonged. It's not easy being me! Quote

Super User Bird Posted July 30, 2020 Super User Posted July 30, 2020 Very organized fisherman here so can't recall misplacing but breaking stuff I do and lost quite a bit of tackle from boat rollovers. I'm way to forgetful to be unorganized. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 30, 2020 Super User Posted July 30, 2020 I recently went through the entire house - attic, garage, basement, junk drawers, closets, etc. - and consolidated all my tackle. I found three huge plastic bins worth of unopened baits - mostly baits I usually use, which isn't many. Tons of Senkos, lol. Apparently smoke/purple flake is my favorite color, because that's what I found squirreled away in every corner of the house! 1 Quote
fin Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 I left my tackle box at a high traffic lake once. I drove home, cut the lawn and then realized I had left it. I drove like crazy back to the lake and found a guy fishing right next to where my box was still sitting. If I had been a little bit later, I’m sure it would have been gone. I have found so much stuff over the years, I could afford to lose a lot and still come out ahead. It’s amazing what people will leave behind. I've found hundreds of dollars worth of stuff. I’ve actually found cash before. 18 hours ago, schplurg said: I lost a 4 pound LMB a few days ago thanks to a bad knot I tied (improved clinch - happened twice that day). I used the Improved Clinch for years, but eventually got fed up with the occasional "bad knot". I kept thinking I had figured out what I was doing wrong, but sooner or later I would have problems again. I switched to the San Diego Jam Knot a year or two ago, and have not had a single problem since. It's a little more awkward to tie, but I highly recommend making the change. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted July 30, 2020 Super User Posted July 30, 2020 I've misplaced a shameless amount of tackle in weedbeds, boulder fields, brush piles & stump fields! And I only have myself to blame Roger 1 Quote

Super User MIbassyaker Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 My wife is paranoid that I will "misplace" a pack of powerbait worms in the pantry snack cabinet, and that she will fail to notice they aren't gummy worms until its too late... 1 Quote

Fallser Posted July 31, 2020 Posted July 31, 2020 I misplaced my fly rod on the roof of my SUV one day after finishing fishing. Didn't notice it was missing till I got home. Never did find it. I don't use spinning gear that often. I have my tackle stored in boxes. The problem is I can't remember which one, so when I'm packing up a tackle box to take with me on a fishing trip, I have to go through several boxes to find what I'm looking for, floating lures, divers, senkos, grubs, other soft plastic. Add to the list Ned rigs which I won't use till I head to Canada next year. Flies are just as bad. I try to keep them in separate boxes but they get mixed up and I've have to look through various boxes to find the ones I want take with me. These days add senior moments to the list. Quote

Super User Hammer 4 Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 I don't have 1000's of dollars worth of tackle, I do have a few hundred, not counting rods ans reels. I keep all my stuff, what little I have, only because when I buy something, I intend to use it within a short period of time. All of my stuff is contained in a small area, so it's kinda tough to misplace any of it. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 Since most of my tackle is in the master closet or man cave it isn't lost for long. The biggest problem was finding specific plastics I needed in the boxes I have accumulated over the years. So I created a table alphabetized by Brand, Color, Bait style and numbered the boxes and added a column for box number to the table. This has saved me a nice chunk of time when packing for a trip to the lake. Quote
Squarebill79 Posted July 31, 2020 Posted July 31, 2020 Just did this the other day, someone got a ziplock bag of about 50 curly tail grubs. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 Another story, I went to sell one of my boats, so I cleaned it out for the tranfer, and while emptying the rod locker, I found a real nice OG JDM Zillion. I faintly recall buying it, but never used it. Still have it somewhere. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 I'm 90% sure it's on a rod in the rack. Whenever I grab it, I'm like what's up with the short handle? Oh yeah, this is that JDM Zillion. Quote
Heartland Posted July 31, 2020 Posted July 31, 2020 Recently found a Gen 1 Revo Mgx in like new shape that I had forgot about. It was part of a trade I made with a guy that I fish with a little. I traded a Shimano Core 100 for the Mgx and good spool of line. Quote
Whatever Posted July 31, 2020 Posted July 31, 2020 In the deep water ship channel, leading into the lagoon on Midway Is, there is a 4' hand spear (Hawaiian Sling) sitting on the bottom in 40' of water. I laid it down while hauling a big bag of Spiny Lobsters back to the boat, and could never locate it again. 45 years it has been waiting. Quote
Nelson Delaney Posted August 1, 2020 Posted August 1, 2020 A few weeks ago I found two Plano 3700’s floating in a river. I grabbed them & realized they were mine. They must have slid of the back as I motored up the river 1 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted August 2, 2020 Super User Posted August 2, 2020 My favorite lost and found story: One year I couldn’t find my favorite bream combo. Since I had grandkids and their friends over, I just figured it was around somewhere. I had other combos and just used them. One day my g- daughter wanted me to take her to a local pawn shop to look for cheap games to buy. As I recall, it was a sunday, I was really tired and didn’t want to go out. She kept on and finally wore me down. So we get to the pawn shop , her and her friend go to look at games. And I go to the fishing section of course. I look at every item on the wall and was just turning away when the last combo caught my eye. I thought “ there’s a perfect bream combo” I went over and grabbed it . It looked kind of familiar. Then I realized-it was my lost combo!!! Apparently someone ( No doubt a relative or friend of theres) had stole it, and pawned it. I bought it back for 16 dollars. I didnt want to press charges because it takes up to 4 months to get it back from the police. ( evidence ) Whats the chances of that? It had already been out for sale for a long time and it was just waiting for it’s big buddy to come rescue it!!? 1 Quote
