Trick question cause I know everybody has. I am about to lose my cool over a double sided 8x6" box with a couple hundred dollars of lures in. I have been to numerous places in several different vehicles. In yaks boats and bank fishing lakes and numerous ponds and creeks this year and no idea what I've done with it. I have spent 2 hours, an hour spent looking on 2 different days and I assumed they'd turn up but no. Let's hear your story of lost and found or the more fun version which is you find something you had no idea you had even bought.

Two trucks, three boats, four tackle bags, and five 5' shelves full of 3700's. I've always got tackle missing and I blame the Bait Monkey.

When I ended up going back to grad school years ago, I moved everything back to my parents house.  After graduation I moved to Northern California got married and moved my stuff from their house.  Probably 7-8 years later I was back visiting and they had found around 6-8 rod/reel combos and a bag of terminal tackle I had completely forgotten about.

I’ve twice found packages of tackle that I ordered from Tacklewarehouse that had arrived and been put aside and never opened.  One I found almost 8 months after it was delivered.

I also will think I’m out of a specific bait/tackle and buy some more only to find a bunch of them a few weeks later

No,  all of my tackle is either in the boat or in the basement.   I can locate any specific item in the basement in six months or less.

I have one 3700 bag of plastics, one 3700 bag of everything else...that's all I got. Nothing hanging around the basement, man-cave or any place else.

Outside of maybe forgetting a bag of plastics or pair of pliers I don't think I've forgot anything. Have "misplaced" a lot of nice stuff on snags.

I don't really lose tackle as much as I find it.  I tend to keep my extra stuff in the same general area but sometimes come across a box of stuff I forgot about.  The other day I came across a double sides Plano loaded with Keitechs and Reaction Innovation stuff.......It was like finding money!

Great reminder for me...I have some unopened boxes I need to look through.

I looked for a Curado for two months.  One day I noticed it mounted on a rod in the bottom of my spinning setup rod locker.

Not really, other than several zip lock bags of plastics, every lure I own fits in one big Plano...its a big box though.

Do you store your keitechs outside of the original packaging? If so do you have problems with bent tails?

I looked for a Tatula reel I knew I had for over a year.  Pretty much tore apart my boat, looked through shelves at my parents dozens of times... It was maddening.  My 7 year old called me one day and said he found it in grandma's glove box..... Apparently we were on a family vacation and it got a ridiculous case of backlash I didn't want to deal with, so I threw it in there until we got home....

My Wife complains that I misplace everything.  I'm constantly asking her if she has seen my car keys, hat, wallet, phone, etc.  She doesn't even ask why I came back to the house 5 minuets after leaving in the morning.  She just hands me what I forgot, and tells me I need to get tested.  I even forget I can't call her to bring me my phone I forgot.

When it comes to fishing tackle, I'm far from organized. but I do know where it is.  It may be in Alaska, Mexico, WA, in the car, kayak, closet, or on the bottom of a river somewhere, but I know where it is.  Not only do I know the location of all my fishing gear, for every item, I can tell you where I bought it, how much it cost, what fish I have landed or lost on it, if I have ever owned something similar, and many other interesting bits of information. My wife say's this information is taking up way to much space in my brain.  Basically my short term memory is poor, my long term memory is selective, and my fishing memory is photo graphic.

Normally I store the ones I am bringing with me in a Plano box and I haven't had a single problem with the tails.  I have some colors/sizes that don't get used much and can spend the entire summer in a Plano box on my kayak and have nto had an issue. Until I put them in the "to go" box I usually keep them in the packaging.  I think these all ended up in a Plano box because I was trying to figure out what I had in size and color at the end of last year.

I have my boxes pretty well labeled. My ritual of prepping before I head out and when I’m done fishing is pretty much the same every time.

On occasion I do not put a bunch of particular lures back where they belong and then a search starts. But I find them. That from having and taking too much stuff out when you go.

I misplaced a bitsy bug jig in some trees after dragging across the bottom of a stream and not checking my line. It was quite impressive, it looked like the space shuttle going into orbit until it disappeared into the canopy.

I lost my forceps one day and I looked everywhere for them. About 6 months later my wife found them in the sofa seat cushions. I still don’t know how they got there.

You are not playing this game right. The bait monkey will be coming to have a talk with you.

He can talk all he wants - can't get blood from a stone (my wallet is full of cobwebs right now).

Well I lost the little protective cap that goes on the end of my telescopic BPS spinning rod one day. I remember taking it off when I got to the water and...?

Couple days later I'm standing on shore fishing not really thinking about anything, and I look down and there it is in the rocks. Cool!

I once walked back nearly half a mile to my truck without my two rods. I was so busy videoing the sunset that I walked all the way back oblivious. How, I do not know. Ran back for them hoping not to get eaten by a mountain lion. I haven't really run in a loooong time so that was interesting.

I lost a 4 pound LMB a few days ago thanks to a bad knot I tied (improved clinch - happened twice that day). I'm hoping I can catch this fish and get the hook out of it. I know where it hides, so good chance I think.

I haven't been fishing long enough to lose much else I think.

I’ve launched several into orbit! When I was a youngster I would tie big lures on 6 lb line and spinning gear. Some of my plugs should be hanging out on the international space station. It’s amazing how far they go without the line attached
