Elkins45 Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 My G3 is 13 years old and I bought it three years ago. I think it must have spent 99% of that time in storage because it was pristine. Three years of hard use later and the only thing wrong with it is one of the switch leds stopped working and the spring broke on the trolling motor plug cover flap. Oh, and the paint is all scratched up from brush and the skeg is bare from shallow bottoms. I have been seriously impressed with it, but I know nothing about dealer support or service since I bought it used and haven’t needed anything beyond diy maintenance. I would absolutely buy another. 1 Quote
DaubsNU1 Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 My brother has been looking at boats for a while. All brands. Buddy of ours had a Tracker...didn't like it. Build quality was not what he was expecting. My brother is going with a Lund Alaskan when he retires from teaching. Quote

I bought it this past June in 'as new' condition. So far so good. It's perfect for solo or 2-up fishing. I like the whole aluminum build because the deck won't rot. It has a Yamaha F70A on it that's smooth as silk and quiet. It's layout is very good for a 17'8" boat. Building new 178's on Ranger's website runs mid $20K's, depending on how you outfit it. I have only one minor gripe about it. I've seen Trackers' with a lip on the bottom of the transom where you can mount a transducer dead in the middle. I spoke to one owner that said he gets side and down imaging at much higher speeds than my Ranger does. It's really not a big deal, but something I'll look for if I ever upgrade boats. Best of luck picking your boat. 1 Quote

I wish it had a center rod locker rather than the smaller one off to the side too. Tracker's version of a 17.5 foot aluminum bass boat has a center rod locker. Quote
