Esox pro Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 Alright im currently sticking with getting a trion unless anyone knows a better reel with same gear ratio and spool size that will still work as good as new after long term use i usually go fishing once or twice a week with a few several day trips a year Quote

Esox pro Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 Same spool size, gear ratio, can find extra spools for cheap price and will work like new and smooth for a long time What i am looking for I currently use the gx2 reel but am looking for someone that will work Quote

Super User J Francho Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 I think you need to widen your parameters a bit. Any $50 dollar reel I've bought in the past two decades lasted a few years, depending on use. Some less, some more. In the end, they weren't worth it. I've been using the same $200 reels now for almost a decade, one for almost 20 years. They're mostly Shimano Stradics and Stradic CI4. I have one Pinnacle that retailed for $100 new that is over 5 years old, and serves me well, too. Esox pro Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 I dont have the money to afford the more expensive reels Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 You want: 1. under $50 2. won't fray line 3. lasts forever  You can pick two.  Quote
Esox pro Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 Thank you all for the help the reel that fits with the right gear ratio spool size and price is a trion 30 unless anyone knows a better real with a 5.2:1 gear ratio and holds about 100 yrds of 12lb test Quote

I'm running 10# Stren Original on my 30 and that's about as 'large' a line as I'd use on that. Quote
Esox pro Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020 Well seaguar just gave me 12lb 1000 yrds of invx even though i had problems with red label so right now im about to praise them for giving me a superior model and my other reel just broke. It was a Shimano reel that broke and now i need 2 reels Any recommendations i use 14 lb Berkley nanfil to a 15 lb leader i need a cheap good quality one Quote

If you're looking inexpensive for the second reel - just get another Trion-30 - it'll handle the 14# NanoFil braid with leader. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted July 31, 2020 Super User Posted July 31, 2020 I’m sorry to say this, but your logic is quite off. You have spooling station that cost 20-30 dollars You bought 1000 yds spool of FC about 50 dollars You also use Nanofil that cost about 15-20 for 150yds spool. But you’d rather spend on a reel for 50 buck that will last forever? Quote
Esox pro Posted July 31, 2020 Author Posted July 31, 2020  Spooling station and nanofil i got as Christmas presents i got something that allowed me to buy 1000 yards of fc for $20 and got a bad batch of red label so ii told seaguar and after several months they spoiled me with a new spool of one of their newer fcs or they made a mistake which im super happy about  Also this is completely irrelevant but is anyone from rochester ny or know someone in rochester ny that knows and will change fishing rod guides ideally for cheap prices  Quote
Esox pro Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 I got a trion 30 and was wondering how to turn off the anti reverse and backreel without the handle coming off Quote

Flipped one way, the anti-reverse is on, flipped the other way it's off...should be marked. Quote
Esox pro Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 Ive been flicking that switch and it doesn't backreel either way All that happens is the handle comes loose either way Quote

Esox pro Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 The switch moves i just got a second one because of this Quote

Esox pro Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 Also idk if this matters but there is no line on this i just got it is it possible i did something wrong with the handle Quote
