I hit a top goal at work this month. At the start of the month the owner said if I hit it she’d give me a gift card to bass pro shops. She didnt say how much but my guess is 100.00.

Thinking I’d rather have it with  Academy. Trying to decide what to get . Thinking maybe a new combo.

What would y’all get??

Probably oil for my boat. Stuff is stupid expensive and doesn't suck to buy so bad with a gift card.

Really depends on your needs.  A new combo would be a fantastic idea...but not for me. I have rods/reels in my garage I don't even remember using or having. LOL  But if you're in need of a new combo, then it's absolutely the right thing to do.

Other items?  I'd go with the "always need this" kinda stuff.  You know, the things that eat up your budget but you need them in order to fish?  Things like line, hooks, weights and other terminal tackle (or oil like Clayton suggested).  Get those knocked out, and it will free up your budget for the fun stuff.

I’d get a 1000yd spool of Seaguar Red Label. I go through that stuff a lot quicker than I thought I would.

Thanks ! How did you know? The last several pairs I got was from Academy.

I probably wont get them with the gift card though , because my wife already knows I need them occasionally so it’s in the budget . To celebrate I went out and bought this . ?

Hey , what were those rods you mentioned academy has that are inexpensive but you thought were good?

Kudos to your owner for rewarding excellence. In a world that spends too much money rewarding mediocrity it's refreshing to see a business owner willing to up the ante to reach a goal.

Also, kudos to you for stepping up to the plate and attaining the goal. Whatever you spend it on make it memorable so every time you use whatever you bought it'll remind you of your achievement and will motivate you to do it again. Good job...

672-B591-F-9445-4395-BCB1-21-AF3-D1834-BIt appears this is all they say on them, usually $12.99.

That’s crazy low priced. I’ll definitely try one. I thought ugly stiks were cheap, and Ive used them for years...

Thanks .

Congrats Mike! My daughter gave one of the carpenters on our team a 100.00 gift card to Academy for good attendance through the year. He ended up getting a nice spinning combo, and new line, all on sale. If your good on rods/reels I'd probably stock up on line, hooks, weights etc. I'd  be getting some new soft plastic baits to try out also.

With $100, I wouldn't do gear unless I needed it.   I think I would stock up on things I use everyday for fishing that I hate to pay for based on their cost > Senkos, hooks, FC line, and tungsten weights.

If I got a $100 gift card I’d buy a pair of Muck boots.

I'm in the same boat. I just won a $100 Amazon gift card and I'm trying to decide what to spend it on. I think I'm good on combos, for now....... But i am considering buying lures that I want to try but are either a bit pricey or I just wouldbt but them otherwise. So far I have a pack of Berkley Waterbugs, 1 in Gulp Minnows for Panfish, and a 90mm Berkley Choppo in bone. That leaves me $82 left. Only other thing I can think I want but wouldn't buy is a Baby Bullshad. Maybe a Thundercricket. Its hard to choose!

Ive got one of these in spinning 6'6 M. Its stiff for a medium but ive used it for everything before I got baitcasters, then it went to a finesse rod until I got a dedicated ned/finesse setup. Now I have a bobber and circle hook on it haha. But it does the job. Caught many fish of different species on it.

Im going to get a 6.6 medium heavy in it. You never know. The combo I caught my PB on was a cheap olympic combo.

Congrats!

I am usually very thrifty and don't buy the shiny things with my own money and end up with all practical things. So when I get gift cards from work or as gifts from other people I buy the nicer things I wouldn't normally spend the money on if it wasn't a gift card. Things like the Plano Edge jig box, some pricier cranks or a better quality stick or reel than I would normally buy. Last year I got some Jackall Rerange and a couple of Provoke jerkbaits, normally out of my price range, and they did very well for me this year and will be on my practical things list next year.
