What are your favorite or most productive trailers for swim jigs?  I've been trying the Keitech Fat Swing 3.8" a lot lately and not sure how much I like it.  Feels like I have to reel too fast to get the tail going good.....

Far and away my most productive trailer is a 3.75" Rage Swimmer. I've stopped using everything else and all my Keitechs and Divine Swimmers are in a box in my office closet now.

Go with 4.3.  I use the Fat Swing myself.

I use the strike king boot tail, the baby menace rigged vertical, and also the hogfarmer spunk shad.

Was thinking the same- this is what I was looking for when I started this thread!  Thanks!

Hmm- I do have a bag of 4.3 I could throw on a jig and see how it works... 3/8 oz with a 3.8” is a pretty solid profile bait, I was leaning towards smaller more than anything.  I got some Bass Assassin 3.5” today and like the size a little better than the 3.8, not sure how it swims tho...

I've used several different things the past few years...single tails grubs, swimbaits, speed craws...my favorite by a landslide not even close is the rage menace.

Picked up some of those as well they look nice.

Always gravitate towards paddle tail types but my most productive by far has been an orange double tail mister twister on a bluegillish pattern jig...

You know I've got a good buddy...member here as well...we have been fishing together for about a decade. Several years back I gave him a swim jig and got him started on them. Then he started throwing a menace on them and raving about how good they are. I didn't believe him at first...after a while I bought some but wouldn't even throw them. This spring I dug them out and started throwing them alot. He wasn't lying and now I'm ticked at myself for not doing it years ago.

River2Sea D-Walker (4")

River2Sea D Walker Swimbaits - Tackle Warehouse

This has become my number 1 trailer in both sizes as well as the xzone swammer. I still use keitechs for lighter jigs but they don’t have enough roll for the 1/2 and 3/4’s

Try trimming the skirt on your swim jig back.  Too long of a skirt reduces the action of a paddle tail.

If I need action I will thread on a Fat Albert.

I use a lot of Keitechs because it just has that big wide kick without the body roll. Sounds backwards but around heavy grass and pads the cover is causing the jig to deflect and move. The keitech paddle tail seems to start up quicker and excels at slower speeds. This is important me as I roll the jig off the pads.

When I do throw a swim jig in open water I prefer bigger paddle tails with flat sided bodies. I can’t say that any really outshine the other. Still have yet to try the Dwalker though.

Looked through every model on TW and couldn't find an orange-ish single or double tail grup anywhere.  What are those!?  Also, whats the paddle tail on the right, 2nd from the bottom!?

The grubs are both 5 inch GYBC offerings.

Had them a while so not sure of the color name but I think  the color is # 196. That paddle tail is also dated.  It's a Berkley powerbait product that is no longer produced.  I have a small supply I'm still working on.  That happens when we've been at this for 5 decades or so.  A swim senko is very similar however.

Btw - I make up most of my own jig, swim jig & spinnerbaits skirts.  It's very simple and the winters are long.

Yes I believe they are 196, pumpkin with green flake.

I’ve used GYCB grubs for a long time as jig trailers, mostly the 5”.

An interesting point, I never realized that their 5” grubs are actually 3”!

I considered doing that as well, just for fun and I’m in MN so yeah winters.  What heads do you use for your swim jigs?

Both the 6th Sense Divine Swim Jig and the Braid Swim Jig are very good.
