How this thing cut braid?

Cuts all lines just fine.  I have a couple pair, one must be more than a decade old.

Dr Slick scissor clamps cut braid very well at first. I clamp them to my shirt where they are very handy and are multi-purpose for getting (smaller) hooks out and cutting line. I still use them for hook removal but using them in that way over time causes the scissors to separate just enough to keep them from cutting braid as easily as when they were new. I use both the Boomerang tool and the clamps now.

Thanks, I just try to find a way to carry less thing while fishing, so that set is good but only one would be better. My boomerang is short tip version that I have it attached to my backpack. I don’t want it to poke me or my cloth while fishing. BTW I believe you know but just to remind everybody else, this boomerang can be in lock position with two blades close (press down and pull back a little)

My local family owned store buys these by the gross and uses them a a loss leader and advertisement.  Great gifts at 7.49 too.

I do not know if they are the best, but I use a Boomerang Tool.  It has lasted at least 2 years and is still going strong.

I've taken one to salt for the last few years, rinsed it daily, and it seems like new.

Dr. Slick pliers did the same thing, blades moved so won't cut braid, can't seem to get them to fit right and stay.  Not a good pair of pliers.  I think they are made more for salt with the jaws good for pulling knots tight, and probably cut wire well, but no good for removing hooks and cutting braid.

I have the boomerang tool, multiple pairs of scissors from Eagle Claw, Rapala, Kastking, Googan, Bass Pro and generic EBay ones.

I find myself using the line cutters on my pliers most of the time. One less tool I have to care if the pliers can handle it.

I just bought 4 pair of Fiskars for Kids at WalMart for $1.19 each.

If I can just keep them away from mono and FC, I'm set for another year.

I have a bunch of Boomerang cutters. They are good when new, but after a year of cutting 30lb braid and 15 and 20lb flouro, they wont cut braid cleanly. When I need to cut braid cleanly, I will now only use one tool, the Cuda 5" Shear.

It's cheaper than the Boomerang, and lasts way longer. Also, it's great for trimming plastic baits.

These shears cut CLEAN!

It's interesting that our experiences have been nearly opposites!  I got the Cuda 5" shears from Tackle Warehouse last year as my "boat" scissors, because they seemed like good quality, along with being reasonably priced.  I have never had much luck with them.  They seem to work okay, but I have problems with them continually loosening, so that then they won't cut cleanly.  I've been planning on replacing them with the Gerber Neat Freaks mentioned above, and relegating the Cudas to be the back-ups to my back-up scissors.

Meanwhile, I bought a Boomerang as my personal scissors that I keep on myself while fishing, and have had a great experience with them.  If they wear out next year or the year after, I will gladly buy another pair to replace them.

The Boomerang is the best line cutter I have as a pure line cutter, but if I'm just fishing mono or fluoro I usually carry a Rapala line cutter in my PFD because they are small and if i lose if they only cost $3 and I can buy them at Walmart. So best is relative.

Hmmmmm, mine is two years old and tight and as sharp as it was when new. Maybe you got a bad pair?

Zebra mussels are the best. They’re free if you have them in your lakes.

my god they're getting awful in so many lakes around me. if i get lucky enough to reel in one of those big stick fish, it's usually loaded with those sticky razor blades.
