Uncle_MC Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 I’m currently throwing frogs on 65lb Moss-Green Braid. Thing is I also will add a 20lb Fluoro Leader and throw heavy T-Rigs and Jigs on this same rod. As a line watcher, I struggle to see the green line when fishing the T-Rigs and jigs, so I thought of switching to White Braid to help with that. Any reason I shouldn’t throw the frogs on White Braid (no leader of course)? I think not but figured I’d ask you guys. I figured the frogs are looking up at a light sky so the line would blend in. bwjay Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 I don't think line color matters for frogging. It might, if the line is super visible, but in most scenarios I think the fish is reacting to the frog. I could be totally wrong though. I caught frog fish with neon green braid and I catch frog fish with moss green braid. White is probably not an issue. 2 Quote
Dens228 Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Most of my braid is almost white after it's been on for a bit anyway. 2 Quote
TcRoc Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 I frog with Hi Viz Yellow.. frog still gets slammed... most hits r reaction for me.. I do use a black sharpie to last few feet of line. 1 Quote
r83srock Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 I know anglers who punch with yellow braid for that reason, no reason why you can’t do the same with a frog. 1 Quote
813basstard Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 I’ve seen folks at the ramp catch bass on 80lb mono with metal leaders and 2 oz weights on salami....you’ll be fine with straight braid 1 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 21, 2020 Global Moderator Posted July 21, 2020 I've used solar green braid for frogging before and it didn't seem to bother them. 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted July 21, 2020 Super User Posted July 21, 2020 I use 30 pound test green colored braid for most of the frog fishing I do and sometimes use 50 pound test if needed. 1 Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted July 21, 2020 Super User Posted July 21, 2020 I use Seagar smackdown in stealth grey, also use it for flippin and punching, no leader..no problem.. 1 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 I know 65lb braid is a popular size, but I have never felt the need to go beyond 50lb and I tie direct to the frog. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted July 22, 2020 Super User Posted July 22, 2020 I use 50lb Power Pro for frogging. Does the job. Last a few seasons but it looses it's color fast. I usually don't use a leader. That bass don't seem to care when it comes to frogs. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted July 22, 2020 Super User Posted July 22, 2020 Frog rod is also my pitch/flip rod. 50# Power Pro, 12#YZH leader. Quote
