CGH Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Sears Game Fisher 9.9 Year I have been told that it's a 1980 model but I'm not sure Could someone on her help me ID this motor and find out it's year for sure Picked this up at a garage sale yesterday with a new 6 gallon plastic tank and the tank hose for $30.00 US Here are the number from under the cowling Model # 217-586240 It says use a 50:1 Ratio It has a power head by Tecumseh #382-B I think the carb need to be rebuilt. Gas leak from the port side of it when i squeeze the primer bulb. But Motor started on the second pull ran for 3 to four seconds then died. Quote
Danonboat Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 The float inside the carb bowl is probably stuck or bent. I would get a carb kit for it. It may even come with a new float. Gotta love garage sales 30 bucks is a good deal. A carb kit shouldn't be more than 20 bucks. It may be smart to replace the impeller as well if that motor uses one. I don't know anything about gamefisher. Good luck.. Quote
CGH Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 Thanks, Any one know what that little whole is for? That is where the fuel is coming out at. Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted March 30, 2009 Super User Posted March 30, 2009 The hole is the bowl vent hole. The needle/seat is stuck open and letting it overfill and run out the hole. You need to find the parts so you can clean/rebuild the carbs. Sears provided very little support for their motors so I doubt you will find a kit from them. I have found parts by finding a Techumseh lawn mower engine with similar carb that had the parts needed. Here is a sight that might be able to help you http://www.discount-marine-parts.com/ob_eska.html It is a 1980 and their kit is a number DI-52027. I would also see if they had a water pump impeller, it will need it. Should have mentioned, that is an old Eska motor sold by Sears and have not been in production for many years. Quote
CGH Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 Thanks Way2slow, That sorta what i was thinking but i was not sure. I got it to run for about 40 seconds to day and all else seams find I just kept squeezing the primer bulb every 2 seconds or so. It is pumping a little water, but I'll still change the impeller I was told at one of the other boards that it will not really pump water till it is placed in gear Quote
moloch16 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I may have a service manual for your motor in PDF format I can send you. I'll check when I get home from work. If you have to keep squeezing the primer bulb I think that means there is an air leak some where in the fuel system such that the vacuum sucking the fuel into the motor is failing. Check the hose fittings for a secure fit. Also check to make sure the vent on the tank is open and not clugged or malfunctioning. Quote
moloch16 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Actually it looks like your motor was made by Eska. I don't have the Eska manuals I have the Force manuals. Sorry! http://www.discount-marine-parts.com/ob_sears.html Quote
