.zoso Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 Currently using a Dobyns 704 for small swimbaits (up to 1oz). Looking to move up to bigger baits, any suggestions for an affordable/reliable combo to throw bigger baits like hudds etc. also rod length is a consideration since I usually bank fish. Thanks. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted July 18, 2020 Super User Posted July 18, 2020 When you say "bigger baits " how big is big..? 3 oz. 5 oz. 8 oz..? Need to know this to give you a fair answer to your question. Also, do want to stay with a Dobyns rod or are you considering other brands..? Quote
.zoso Posted July 18, 2020 Author Posted July 18, 2020 Baits up to 3 ounces, and I am considering other brands besides dobyns Quote
Super User Teal Posted July 18, 2020 Super User Posted July 18, 2020 For the 1 to 4 oz range, I've been using my striper rods.... I have 2 - 7'6 H duckett inshore rods... hey it works for me. They can be found for 75 bucks, they retail for 139.00 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 18, 2020 Super User Posted July 18, 2020 Dobyns 806 for Hudds, 795 is OK for 6" Hudds. Irod swimbait rods are very good for the price point, 8' Heavy is a good all around rod. Okuma Guide A series is another choice. Tom 1 Quote
