Super User ATA Posted July 16, 2020 Super User Posted July 16, 2020 Ok, it was few days that I made some changes to my tackles, got new combos and change my backpack, And I start to get some new tackle and baits while waiting for my backpack to arrive before I hit the water. So at first I had live coverage for iCast2020 by TW then Shimano and then watch few others here and there and boom Glide Baits and swim Baits in depth. Now I am hooked, I started by Baitsanity G2, DEPS 175, DEPS 250 which they will be here in couple days. I always had some S water 168 with me but I wasn't really into it, maybe because I didn't have right gear and info. No I start with this 3 glides and also I have couple of 9" Magic swimmer(got them for stripers). so guys any suggestion for me there, if you are in large swimsuit world? Because I see so many people are collector and they are not actually fishing them, But I am going to fish with them everyday, specially in this season. Quote
JediAmoeba Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 For me the deps 250 is the most fun - it pulls fish from seemingly nowhere out in the open. You need a bull shad bait for sure - the 4×4, regular bull shad in 6 or 7 inches or a wake gill are fantastic. There are a lot of other customs out there like KGB, 3:16, Pizz and toxic baits to name but a few. Join Swimbait Universe on facebook and venture down the rabbit hole.... 2 Quote
Born 2 fish Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 My advice is don’t buy to many to start. Take one or two baits out at a time and learn them. As far as other baits definitely a G2 shellcracker and a bullshad and a Ms Slammer. 2 Quote

Super User WRB Posted July 16, 2020 Super User Posted July 16, 2020 Where would you fish big swimbaits or glide baits in SoCal? The trout hatcheries are closed with minimal plants going on and what is being planted are 6" undersize rainbows. There hasn't been a swimbait bite at Castaic or Casitas in 2 years. There was a 18.3 lb giant caught on a 6" swimbait at Dixon 2 weeks ago, the first giant bass in over 5 years at any SoCal lake. Before buying any more swimbaits PM me I have dozens to choose from. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 18, 2020 Global Moderator Posted July 18, 2020 Wasn't a big fan of the 175 SS, tends to nose up a lot, especially for a bait at that price. The Savage Gear Shine Glide 185 is my favorite glide, mainly the bone color. FishLab's wake gill, and the Savage Gear Pulse Tail baits are all great without breaking the bank. A Chad Shad is another great glide bait along with the Donut Shad. Got to have a Slammer, I prefer the 7" but everyone swears by the 9". Big crawlers are fun too if you decide to include those in the mix. I've had good luck with the Aventa Crawler. 1 Quote

I cast them at docks, under overhanding trees, rip rap, idk, I hear about them being bad casting all the time but other than an occasional errant cast usually caused by the constant howling winds here, it's not been an issue. 1 Quote
