NathanDLTH Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 I’m looking at a jerkbait rod. Needs to be a true medium with a fast action. I do not like the soft parabolic action of some of the rods out there. Here’s kinda my list: shimano expride 6’10 med/fast orochi jerkbait special m/f alpha angler slasher 6’10 m/f If I’m missing a rod that should be here please go ahead. 1 Quote

Super User NHBull Posted July 16, 2020 Super User Posted July 16, 2020 I have the Alpha and it is owesome! ......the MB Flatside special is pretty special too. Glad I don’t have to decide between the two 1 Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted July 16, 2020 Super User Posted July 16, 2020 You might want to consider the 6'-08" St. Croix Mojo Bass MH/F rod. It has a stiffer tip than some. jj 1 Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted July 16, 2020 Super User Posted July 16, 2020 If you're in the camp that a Dobyns MH rod is closer to a Medium, the 685 and 705 are well regarded jerk bait rods. I prefer the Moderate-Fast action so I can switch between fluorocarbon and braid depending on time of year/temps. 1 Quote

Super User FishTank Posted July 17, 2020 Super User Posted July 17, 2020 I have been using a G. Loomis 783C GLX for years and it has been fantastic for Lucky Craft Pointers and Vision 110's. It's sort of fits in that Goldilocks Zone > Not too heavy, the tip is fast but soft, sensitive and it has hook setting power. 1 Quote
Dens228 Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 I currently have seven Orochi XX's in my arsenal and wouldn't hesitate to buy the Jerkbait rod. As it is now I use the Diablo Spec R but wouldn't be surprised if the jerkbait is hear by end of summer. 1 Quote

I should of mentioned I like length between 6’9-6’11. Quote
gilkeybr Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 You can get a JDM Poison Adrena 6'10" M/F. I assume the action is very similar to the Expride 610. I love it for jerkbaits and poppers. One of my favorite rods to fish. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 18, 2020 Global Moderator Posted July 18, 2020 The one I use is my favorite jerkbait rod I've owned, and I've had a bunch. Okuma TCS 6' 9" MH/MF. It's not a MH, fishes much more like a medium and it's 10-17lb, 1/4-3/4 reflects more that of a medium than a MH. 1 Quote
rangerjockey Posted July 18, 2020 Posted July 18, 2020 I too have way more stickbait rods than I need but I have 2 I really like even though they are different action wise. The Witch Doctor Surman 50 G and the St.Croix MXF Topwater rod. Personally I like the tip on the Topwater version better than the model they label as Jerkrbait. Quote
