Super User slonezp Posted July 14, 2020 Super User Posted July 14, 2020 Think I would rather had them use the F-150 as a base for the new Bronco instead of making a "Jeep". What do you think? https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2021-ford-bronco-specs-price-release-date-trims/ Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted July 14, 2020 Super User Posted July 14, 2020 Hmm, I agree, the Jeep platform doesn't cut it. Plus imho that thing is Fugly. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted July 15, 2020 Global Moderator Posted July 15, 2020 I’m still thinking about it. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 15, 2020 Super User Posted July 15, 2020 I had a bronco. That thing doesn’t even resemble a bronco. Quote
Todd2 Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 I kind of like it..not that color but I like what Ford is doing with the Ranger and the Bronco. My F150 is 20 years old..so I'm looking at the new Ranger. Quote

Had the Ranger for 2 days. The Ranger stickered for $4k more than I paid for my SuperDuty. Whatever engine it had in it had some pep to it and the 10 speed trans shifted smooth as silk. As far as the rest of the truck...meh. 1 Quote
schplurg Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 Only experience I've had Jeeping is doing the Rubicon with my brother in his. I saw bigger trucks - one brand new - destroyed trying to wiggle between boulders in a few spots. For that trip I would use a Jeep. Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted July 15, 2020 Super User Posted July 15, 2020 If Ford and Chevy would bring back a full-size 2 door version of the Blazer and Bronco, they would sell like hot cakes. No idea why they took both of them and put them on small crossover type bodies. Quote

No idea why they took both of them and put them on small crossover type bodies. Sales impressions. The sales mavens think that people looking for greater efficiency will equate smaller size with greater efficiency ..... whether the specs bear that out or not. I think there are many people who put ride comfort, safety and reliability before efficiency. In today's carbon-crazy world, those people are painted in a very poor light, to say the least. Efficiency is the new power word, like it or not. jj Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted July 15, 2020 Super User Posted July 15, 2020 To me it looks more like an updated Toyota FJ Cruiser. IMHO, there’s only one Jeep 1 Quote

Chevy could even use the Tahoe platform, make it a 2 door, change the front end and interior and call it a Blazer and sell plenty of them. I guess I just don't understand using the Bronco and Blazer name and making something totally different. 1 Quote
CountryboyinDC Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 There's something magical about a Jeep. They break down all the time and leak oil in the driveway like no other, yet they have loyalists, enthusiasts, sorority girls, and suburbanites that buy them up at a rapid clip. My prediction is these go the way of the 'reborn FJ Land Cruiser' that came out a little more than a decade ago. Bring back the International Harvester Scout! 50 years ago that had Dana 44s front and rear and a transfer case that was the envy of all Jeepers. We had one to pull tine harrows and hay rakes to keep the hours off our tractors. It was a beauty in the eyes of few, but I'm not sure I don't prefer it to this Bronco. 1 Quote
Randy Price Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 I wish Toyota would bring back the FJ Cruiser. I thought it was a great sportsman vehicle. Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted July 15, 2020 Super User Posted July 15, 2020 Looks like a wrangler and and Toyota FJ cruiser had an illegitimate baby. Nobody is going to top wrangler sales but everyone wants a piece of the pie. it isn't a coincidence that jeep released the wrangler with a Hemi possibility on the same day.... Quote

My son bought an 18 or 19 F150 and that was more than my truck, but he's got the bells and whistles. His stickered for 52k i think. 17 minutes ago, flyfisher said: Looks like a wrangler and and Toyota FJ cruiser had an illegitimate baby. The Bronco is 3500lbs. not sure on the semi one but the current 4 door wrangler is 3500lbs with the 2 door being 2500 I think. The hemi option isn't slated for production or anything yet they just "leaked" it more or less via concept car https://www.thedrive.com/news/34779/jeep-wrangler-rubicon-392-concept-shows-off-450-hp-hemi-v8-on-broncos-big-day 1 Quote
