Daiwa Tatula Bass 7'1" HF: How versatile?

I'm looking to pull the trigger on a new setup, and I really want to be able to skip jigs effectively with it so I'm opting for a fast tip.  I also lack a frog rod, but I don't frog often and the last time I tried was years ago.  My casting technique was not up to snuff and I had a horrible time throwing a Booyah Pad Crasher Jr. on a Medium Heavy Daiwa Aird-X.  That experience left a bad taste in my mouth for frogging, but I've got a lot of great frog water.  Another problem I need to solve is my current Texas rig rod is a 13 Fate Chrome 7'3" Medium Heavy...it's a good stick for moving baits but it's not good at picking up subtle bites.

 

So, I need a stick that can skip, frog, and toss and feel a Texas rig effectively.  I plan to slap a Daiwa Tatula SV TWS 103 on it in the 8 gear ratio.

 

The Daiwa Tatula 7'1" Heavy Fast seems to fit the bill, it's rated from ¼-1½.

 

How well can it toss a ¼ bullet, 3-5/0 worm hook, and various plastics?

 

Can it haul them out of the slop with a frog on the end instead of a fluorocarbon leader?

 

Does it have enough tip to send a ½ ounce jig under docks and branches?

I bought that rod a few weeks ago. 

It'll skip jigs all day. I use it as a pitching rod too. 

It's not a broomstick, but it's got plenty of backbone. 

 

A 1/4oz Trig with a 5/0 hook would be fine on it, but it's a little more rod than I like for that. 

The 7'3" MH/F would be my go-to for that setup. Love the tip on that rod.

I got that same rod a few months ago, I may or may not have talked @AmmoGuy in to getting his. ?? I use it as a back up for everything.  I pitch and skip jigs with it, I throw big topwaters, frogs, wake baits, buzz baits, spinner baits, and even soft swimbaits.  It at it's best as a bottom contact rod.. but does all those things well.  I honestly think 3/8 total weight is the sweet spot.  But I can flick a 1/4 oz lure too... its just a beefed up version of the MH.  Look at sportsmansoutfitters they may still have it in stock..do a thorough interweb search and you can probably find it for as low as 110 like I did.

That’s a fantastic rod.  One of my favorites.  I use it mostly for jigs and Texas rigs.  I have used it for small glide baits - S-Waver 120.  It would work for frogs too.

I think the tatula sv will be alot better than the reel that I have on mine... those things are made to SLING light lures... so should be a killer combo.

My hope was that the SV would pick up some of the broomstick's lack and assist the entire setup in getting lighter offerings out there while still skipping jigs.
