I’m in need of another spinning reel, I’ve had my eye on the stradic fl as it seems to be well received. I know the difference between the 2 reels has been discussed but my question is, price being basically the same, which reel would you choose.

I have 3 Ci4+ reels (2x2500 and 1x4000) and one 2500fk. Basically, I use the Ci4+with mono and the metal FK with braid, due to the stress braid can present to the main shaft and bearing. I'm getting away from braid (dang stuff lasts and lasts!) and will go to all mono. Under that circumstance, I would go with the plastic reels.       jj

If weight isn’t an issue I’d go FL all day. Or you can wait till the new vanford comes out!!

At this point I'd wait till the Vanguard comes out.  I have several Ci4+ (2500 and 3000 size) and several different model regular Stradic's.  No problems with any of them just like the lighter weight of the Ci4+ especially on long days.

I have 2 ci4’s, 1 ci4+ and 1 fk. I’m selling both ci4’s and will wait for the new Vanford to try for one and the fl for the other. Between the fk and the ci4+ I prefer the ci4+ due to weight. It’s on a light rod so it’s just so pleasant to fish all day. The fk is a great reel and so smooth. You cant really go wrong with either. I’m really looking forward to the fl though

Both are great reels. It really depends on the rod you are putting it on. If it's a light weight rod then go for the stradic ci4+ or wait for the new vanford. If it's a heavier rod, get the FL. It will balance a little better.

I went for the FL and couldn't be happier. I just prefer that solid feel of aluminum alloy over plastic. Either one should last a long time. I also prefer the appearance of the FL.

That is a tough choice between FL vs ci4+FB. The FL is a fine reel, and everything you ever need for spinning reel. The ci4+ With an ounce lighter is very enjoyable to fish with. If you can get both at the same price around 160. I might get FL in 1000 size, but CI4+ in 2500+ size. If this reel will be use for salt water then FL all the way. If you gonna pay 190 or more, I would wait for new Ci4+.

You might have to look elsewhere, like eBay or Japan. You won’t have warranty but you have more options.
The FL I was gonna buy 1000S or C2000S is about 170 from Japan. I use spinning for finesse light line fishing (braid) so the 1000-2000 size is more than enough, a little less max drag but save a lot in weight (6.5oz compare to 7.9oz on 2500). I also use 1000-2000 for my Ultralight fishing for panfish as well.
