So I had planned on getting out this weekend but ended up working both days. Got called in to help out on a shorthanded crew...that on top of some things that came up I didn't find time. On the plus side I now have Tuesday off...and if it doesn't storm to much it looks fishy. Chance of storms but mostly just rainy/drizzly and high of 73 which is a nice change from weeks of 90s with high humidity.

Anyhow I've been struggling to catch many keepers...which here is 15in...catching lots of shorts. Tuesday I'm gonna really get after it and try to catch a tournament aka 5 bass limit.

Anybody else struggling right now? Maybe I just suck

Do you have any large worms, say 8" or bigger..? If so, try tossing those either on a t rig, or Carolina rig..This would hopefully get you bigger fish.

Then there's always the jig with a good sized craw trailer.

I've been throwing a jig almost every time out along with other baits I've got confidence in for larger bass like a buzzbait. I think my biggest problem is im a bank angler and a lot of bass are probably offshore now because of the heat. At least a lot of the quality fish...I've been catching lots of dinks with a few nice ones mixed in.

Ahh, been there done that..If there's any vegetation within casting distance, that would be a good choice to start with, shade and good oxygen will hold bass. Good luck.

Not doing to bad in the catching dept...but have found color to be a big factor around here for me in.  A good friend gave me some hand poured Zingers in a couple unique colors....once again color and size matters for bass....at least for me.  I'm sure will be back to basics soon.

I'm a shorecaster like you. The only thing that's produced for me is first light. I've been out there at dawn, and a tandem spinnerbait and a nickel spoon have gotten me good sized fish. Probably other lures would, also. I didn't try them, though; I stuck with what worked first off.

After the hot sun bore down ...... nothing.         jj

Been to hot too fish . Late in the afternoons I've been doing ok . Had one good night trip one not so good . The fish are biting I just have to stay out of the  heat . For some reason the thermocline at the lake has stayed low, 12 to 15 foot and lots of baitfish at 8 to 10 foot . Those depths have been producing 15 inch  keeper bass .

In the summer I target shade and deep water .How  deep depends on the lake .

I've been doing well but I don't fish from shore and most of my bigger bass haven't been near shore.  They've been on offshore structure. I've been using a jig/craw combination and casting it near drop offs and humps.  I've also had good success by casting to the shadow side of cover.  I've also found that if I catch a couple small ones I move because I don't believe little bass hang around with very big bass.

If you are stuck on shore look for something you can reach that is a bit different than other places.  Bigger bass pick the best spot.  I weed line may hold bass, the small outcrop of weeds along that line, ore the small indent along those lines, or a stump along those lines will have a better chance of holding bigger bass.  The bigger they are, the better there choice of where to stay in a given area.

I’m struggling to have a day to catch a lot of bass. Only getting a few each time out. They are there. My soft plastics have not really kicked in yet. They will. I don’t think I’m concentrating enough. Cranking most of my fish. But I’ve gotten a few nice ones. Runts and nice fish have been good looking and healthy. We had torrential rains Friday. Held me back on Saturday. Fished some high water yesterday. Wood and lily pads. Managed a 12” and 14” fish on a Cotton Big-O and a DT-10. Had one on that I never got to see. I’m thinking Wednesday morning to hit it again early than go to work late.

The last couple of days I caught 21   bank fishing on the Mississippi river , just like I did as a kid . Dipping a little grub around cover . Had some whites and crappie mixed in .

I've had somewhat of a tough go lately for bass, but I've been destroying the walleye in the river.  I'll be harassing the walleye again tomorrow in my attempt to catch a couple smallmouths.

Most of the bass I have been catching have been dinks.  I've had a couple of nice ones, but they have been far between.  I've been catching around vegetation.  Shallow or deep it doesn't matter.

I tried to challenge myself once, the challenge was how many reels I could buy before my girlfriend finds out... previous record was 3, this time I got it up to 4 but boy was she mad. Final verdict... worth it.

Always better to ask for forgiveness.
