Mbirdsley Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 The wife knows about the rods, reels and equipment for the boat. However, I’m not dumb enough to let her see the reserve plastic stash. Out of site out of mind now I can make my own Arkie, roundball, and poison tail jigs. Her dad supplies me with 600 lbs of wheel weights to make them. She sees the mountain of skirts and such and I tell her look at all the money I’m saving hahaha. She thinks her brother booking a couple of charters a year is being a fishermen. So she is kinda clueless, works in my favor when I’m rigged for salmon, lake trout/steelhead, trout, walleye, and bass .more heavy on the bass stuff untill I get the new boat rigged. Which, primarily will be for bass but, can troll/jig for walleye and near shore for salmon so it just means more stuff 1 Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted July 13, 2020 Super User Posted July 13, 2020 I have a small room off the garage that I keep my saltwater gear in , and freshwater overflow. ( catfish and extra bream rods, accessories like cast nets, trot lines , buckets, milk jug rigs, boat accessories etc.) I have some bass fishing overflow in there as well. Since my daughter lives back there now, and I have to go through her area to get to the fishing room, I now keep most of my bass stuff in my office to allow easy access. 1 Quote
PourMyOwn Posted July 13, 2020 Posted July 13, 2020 I have three of the four drawer filing cabinets loaded with Plano 3700s and my soft plastics. Last year I melted down over 50 pounds of soft plastics and made new baits from them. That helped consolidate a bit. There's also a huge Rubbermaid tote full of odds and ends. Time to find another free filing cabinet. 1 Quote

New techniques, got a baitcaster, etc.. so I've been testing and trying a lot of things. Found brands and colors I like to use and techniques. Here is my current everyday carry and my reserves. Note some of the packs, like the clam shells hold multiple colors, easier to carry more options without bleeding. Pretty basic, jig box, and terminal tackle. Load of soft plastics Told her this was nothing so mind sharing some of your awesome "Reserves" or back up tackle PM me your phone number and I will send you some pictures of what a real tackle hoarding problem looks like. Show them to her and say I could be like this guy. Allen Edited July 15, 2020 by Munkin Deleted duplicate posts 1 Quote

My wife would not be happy. Mine is not which is why I have been working on my garage to store a bunch of it there. Then again she just bought a Jeep and we have Jeep parts everywhere which is a good defensive argument for the fishing stuff. What is crazy is I have donated 13 rods and about $300 worth of lures to the Jr Bassmasters. I sold 7 other rods and only bought I new one in the past 3 years. Additionally I have given away about $500 in lures to younger anglers here and on other forums. I barely made a dent in my "spare tackle" which is why I will have a massive sell off in a couple of months. And for anyone that may ask because of the pictures my OCD is cured. Allen 1 Quote
